I went into Superior Marketplace on December 1st around 9:00 pm. There were three cashiers open. I got in line for a cashier named Christopher, and he told me he was closing. I said okay and stepped aside, understanding that. Another costumer went in his line said he was close.
Then another customer walked up someone he clearly knew and he reopened his register just for him. When a different customer tried to step up, he again said he was “closed.” We were all customers, all waiting patiently, so it was not fair for one person to get special treatment.
If it had been an employee, that would be different. But this was simply favoritism, and it was very unprofessional and disappointing Ibeen shopping there for more then 10 years.
Everyone should be treated the same.

A new perspective to the old adage, "Buyer beware." An uneventful experience. Although I hate to be the bearer of bad news, perhaps it might be helpful to mention. Typically, I don't shop at Superior Grocers, but recently, I had been frequenting the South El Monte location for a few specialty items there. Those experiences were sufficiently pleasant to encourage visiting other locations. So, yesterday, as commuting home from work in an alternate route due extensive holiday traffic, I thought to stop by at a different location. Except for the store's single faulty point of not having a self-checkout area, I left due shopper's general disposition that was a real turn-off. People are generally courteous wherever I go and usually accommodate; not that I expect it, but it's a real contrast when people of a given area are too self-absorbed to be kindly to others. It really stands out. From the parking lot to the interior of the store. It's seems people vy for first place; like it's a losing concept to be subservient. One older man was obviously needing to get from the parking lot into the store, so I customarily yielded to a pedestrian. He practically rolled his eyes up and proceeded across as if to put up with my injustice. Inside, others standing in the isles with their cart blocking center isle and themselves acting oblivious to my presence. I had to voice up "excuse me" just to get their attention while I shimmied through. At the dairy section, there was a small group hovering around the butter section and completely ignoring my motion to reach for a butter. It wasn't unbearable, but by the time I was ready to checkout and seeing those long lines of generally discourteous people and no self-checkout, I thought, "Enough!". I'll not waste my patronage dollars in an unpleasant environment. Needless, I ditched the cart with my specialty items in an aisle. "That'll teach them!* I thought. "Doubtful," was my next thought. Anyway, leaving was sweet personal vindication. Sorry, but there is a reason certain places are avoided like the plague. So, to the callous hearted, this will be laughable. But those seeking personal enjoyment in their shopping experiences, this is for you. There is such a thing as being kindly to one another. I wonder what Christmas is like there?. Never mind, I really don't care. Buyer Beware.
