- MMMatty4 days ago1.0I used to be a huge fan of Karl Straus, but after taking my friends there recently I’m nothing but embarrassed. The service was horrendously bad to the point that it might be the worst service I’ve ever had in any sit down environment. Our server came to our table to take our orders and was never seen again. We never received the waters we initially asked for and two of our party hadn’t ordered yet and was still looking at the menu. About 30-40 minutes after not seeing our server we noticed they had gone on break and were eating on the other side of the restaurant. I repeat, they were eating while my friends hadn’t even had their orders taken yet. What? So we had to flag a new server down and let them know we had no server. They were nice enough to put in the order for my friends, but again, we never saw our initial server again. We end up sitting at the table for another hour until we realize no one is going to bring us a check. So we go chase a server down again just to get our check. Horrible experience overall. My out of town friends were not impressed. Karl Straus went from one of my favorite spots to my black list. I won’t be back, nor will I be recommending it to anyone in the future.

Way too many caramelized onions and not enough cheese. The grilled cheese arrived on burned bread, but they did replace it with another unburned sandwich, but the minimal amount of cheese it had in it wasn’t fully melted. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t very good tasting.
