Really not impressed in the least with the coffee or the pastries--just overpriced mediocrity. I'd rather go to Antigua; cheaper, better and legacy.

This was my first time walking into Alfred's in Highland Park. My co-worker normally picks up an occasional order. I specifically chose "No Tip" on my purchase of an $8.00 small latte and when I got home, I noticed they charged me $1.00 tip. I will NEVER buy my latte from this place again!

I have my pic of coffee shops in highland park. I went to Alfred because it was near my work place. It only took visits before I was greeted by name when I walked in. That has never happened to me before. I felt like norm from cheers. The more I went, I was greeted warmly by all the staff and even the new staff. After a while, the coffee was just a bonus. Come for the coffee, stay for the vibe.

Picked up an uber eats order . The barista seem overwhelmed and there was this chubby girl that just told her to breath and get them out as fast as possible instead of helping . Thought she could of handled it better

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at this establishment. This was my first visit, and I had my very well-trained Doberman with me. When placing my order, the person at the counter asked if he was a service dog. I replied no, and she informed me that dogs weren’t allowed inside but that they would bring my drinks out to me. I had no issue with that and was happy to comply.
What upset me, however, was seeing another customer walk in right after with a small, fluffy dog perched on his shoulders. The staff said nothing to him and even allowed him to remain inside while waiting for his order. I couldn’t help but feel this was unfair—and possibly discriminatory based on my dog’s size or breed.
My dog and I waited patiently outside. He caused zero issues, as he is very well trained. When my order was ready, the staff called my name and simply left it on the counter inside. I had to raise my voice through the window to ask if someone could bring it out to me, since I had been told I wasn’t allowed inside. It was embarrassing, especially with other customers watching, and ultimately a fellow customer offered to hand me my drinks.
As for the drinks themselves, I ordered an iced lavender latte and a hot vanilla latte. They were fine—nothing special—but my hot latte cup was barely filled. Honestly, you can find better service and a greater selection just down the street at other local coffee shops.
