The World Famous Canter's Deli Started in Jersey City in 1924 and then moved to Los Angeles in 1931.
Have been open 24 hours since 1953. We are known for having the Best Breakfast in Los Angeles since 1931. We are also famous for our Pastrami, Corned Beef. Rye Bread, Salads, Burgers, Matzo Ball soup, Potato Pancakes, and bakery items. We bake all of our own breads and pastries in on site.
This is a good go to place if you want something quick while out on your own or with your family. There is some variety in the menu with salads, Mexican style favorites, and also just protein and side options of chicken, steak, and salmon. The sweet potatoes and the sangria are both amazing.

Been visiting Canters for more than 32 years,,food is good, especially breakfast & the corn beef sandwich! But I'd like to see them sanitize the front area a little better. It doesn't smell fresh, it smells old & stale. Mop the floors more perhaps. I realize the deli is right up front, but we gotta figure out something. Because it's unpleasant,,, Nevertheless,, ,will continue to be a loyal patron!

I don’t understand how people can eat at this place — it smells like dirty socks, everything is filthy, the fish and other products behind the glass aren’t covered at all, and the glass itself looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in about five years.

The place has become very popular, but unfortunately this seems to have negatively affected the quality of service. The staff at the counter were especially rude and dismissive, which really ruined the overall experience. Their lack of attention to customers was quite frustrating. I also don’t believe proper hygiene and cleanliness standards are being maintained. The food displayed at the counter looked like it had lost its freshness. In addition, it’s definitely not good value for money — the portions, especially the sandwiches, were quite poor. Overall, it was very disappointing and far below my expectations.

Let me preface this by saying I’m a Jew since birth. Went in for a pint of matzoh ball soup to bring home because I wasn’t feeling well and this is literally what I came home to….this is after I added water. This was $14. When I called, management was nice and said they would give me more broth if I came back. However, I just want to make it clear that when you buy a pint of matzoh ball soup from them, you’re not actually getting soup you’re getting a literal matzoh ball surrounded by little to no broth. This feels like a scam. When I asked why there were no carrots or chicken or anything for that matter in the soup, the man on the phone said I had to pay extra for that???? Are you kidding me? If someone buys a pint of soup from you guys, you should put the liquid in one container and the matzoh ball and another. Will never be coming here again for soup. From one Jew to another, do better. Stop scamming your own people.
