I shop here all the time for sale items and a wide selection. All the cashiers are excellent and Valentina and Bobbi are always very friendly and helpful.

The staff here is amazing just the reason for my 3 star rating is because I frequently shop here and I’ve had a number of times the employee Valentina at the self check out makes me feel uncomfortable so I had to come and express I let it go most times but someone needs to tell her this is not her house where she can choose who can come in and out it’s a business where everybody should be treated equal no matter their appearance.

This particular store has a great selection of wine and hard liquor. Better than any liquor store. Only negative for me was the smell coming from meat department. Still the store in general is great.

We are visiting for Christmas from South Dakota. I was searching all over the area for the cocktail, rye bread. I called pavilions in La Jolla, and the very helpful clerk at the bakery, named Stephanie, Searched for the bread. Stephanie found two loaves left and said that she would hold it for me until 9 AM. We raced to the store and the two loaves were waiting for me at the bakery. I was amazed at how helpful and kind Stephanie was, both on the phone And when I met her in person. She is a great attribute to your company and made me a fan of your Pavilion store. I want to thank Stephanie and your entire store staff for their helpfulness, efficiency, and friendliness.

Last Tuesday I had a terrible experience. For context, I work for an elderly person who can no longer make decisions about many things, including her expenses. So I make the payments with her card, and in turn, I have to account to her accountant for the expenses she incurs. On Tuesday, as every Tuesday, we went shopping at pavilions store located in 7544 Girard Ave, La Jolla, CA 92037, When we got to the checkout, the cashier named "Lili"asked the lady if she wanted to donate $5 to a food bank, to which the lady said yes. This cashier knows that she is an elderly person incapable of making decisions, yet she asked her about the donation, taking advantage of her situation. I asked the cashier if she had charged anything extra, to which she replied that yes, the lady had said yes to the donation. I told the cashier that she cannot make decisions, and the cashier very unpleasantly replied that the lady said yes and that since she is the owner of the money, she would charge the donation. I told the cashier that I am in charge of supervising what she spends. The cashier again insisted that the lady is the owner of the card, that she owns the money, and that she had accepted the donation. This situation seems so so so so so unpleasant to me. Firstly, the cashier doesn't care who owns the money or not; it's a matter that shouldn't concern her. Secondly, the cashier doesn't decide what we do or don't pay for; she shouldn't add any product of any kind to our account. Thirdly, the customer is always right; if I indicated that she shouldn't charge the donation, she should have removed it from the account, instead of arguing with me about who owns the account and the money. In the end, the problem isn't whether or not to donate $5; the problem is the cashier's terrible attitude in making that charge just because she decided to make it, taking advantage of an elderly person and adopting such an arrogant attitude about other people's lives, deciding what we have to buy or not. It's really, really, really, annoying to have to confront this type of staff. I hope you can take action on this matter. Thank you.
