Went here today with my boyfriend for sandwiches. The gentleman working the sandwich counter had SUPERB customer service skills. He took his time and explained all of our options. He even ran to grab fresh produce. Incredibly nice man. Hence, the reason I even gave 3 stars. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by the large, bald, Caucasian man working the self-checkout area. I emphasize this because-I could be completely wrong-he was clearly prejudiced against us. He was all smiles with a co-worker and other customers. As soon as I approached him for help, the smile dropped and he wouldn't even make eye-contact. I said hi, he didn't say a word back. The behavior was so blatant that it prompted me to ask if everything was okay? He looked at me with a "what?" expression and I respond with "well, I said hello and was trying to ask for help". He then mumbles something, while looking away again. He then finishes "serving" me and practically threw the receipt at me. Still not saying a word. It was so unsettling. My bf noticed, even though I didn't say anything to him or make a scene of any kind. As we were walking out, he says to me, "that guy wanted us out of there". How bad does behavior have to be for someone who wasn't even apart of the situation to notice ? I mean, it's 2026. Are we still this way ? It was so disheartening. I wouldn't typically say anything, but the behavior was so obviously bigoted. I don't know if he was a skinhead. He looked like one tbh, but I don't want to assume. Either way, if you're a person of color, be careful. I've lived in California my entire life and have usually had wonderful experiences with all people, but clearly, we are not all on one accord. I have heard things about La Jolla, this was my first experience supporting the rumors.

Today, I encountered an issue with the pricing at the pavilion. My son purchased a few sodas, but the price displayed was incorrect. I felt hesitant to ask Valentina for assistance, as she was already helping a few other clients. However, she noticed me talking to my son and looking at the receipt. She promptly came over and made the necessary adjustment. I reside in La Jolla Village and have known Valentina for years. She is an incredibly hardworking and dedicated individual, and you’ re fortunate to have her as part of the pavilion team. Thank you, Valentina, for your attention to detail and assistance.

Next time I’ll go to a regular florist rather than bother to buy flowers here. They used to have great prices and selection. Now the prices are high much less to choose from AND the ladies behind the flower counter gave me so much grief for trying to assemble four bunches that I bought AFTER I paid for them on the empty countertop! They should have offered to help assemble it (actually for free rather than charging) OR allowing ME to consolidate my $80 floral purchase briefly on their countertop!! Since I didn’t have time to stop at home and do this before visiting the hospital. Terrible customer service won’t be going back again to buy flowers or even groceries.

Very poorly stocked. Broccoli crowns are all stem, so paying for the weight of stem, a ripoff. Chicken is always still frozen at the supper hour. Better step it up pavilions, next complaint goes straight to corporate.
