  We went there a couple of weeks ago to buy some holiday gift cards, had to speak to the manager because the dollar amount was large. Not very friendly

  I live about five minutes east of Vons. Depending on which direction I’m heading, I’ll stop at FoodMaxx when I’m coming from home, or Vons when I’m returning from work. If I had to choose a preference, it would be Vons—mainly because of the quality produce, the food court, and the Starbucks inside. That said, none of those reasons alone ever motivated me to write a review. I’ve been shopping at this Vons for over a decade. I began shopping there even more once the app started offering discounts on select products, especially items like ice cream. One thing I always dreaded, though, was checking out and having the app not work properly. In all my years shopping here, no one had ever taken the time to actually show me how to use the app correctly—until this evening. As a school teacher heading home after work, I usually stop to grab a few things—snacks, a bag of grapes, or some beverages. When I see items I typically buy with active digital coupons, I’ll grab those as well. Tonight, that included K-cups, butter, and Arizona drinks. When I checked out and the discounts weren’t applying, my cashier, Ashley, asked me to open my app so she could help. Ashley took the time to explain that my phone number was entered as a contact but wasn’t actually connected to the app, which is why the digital coupons weren’t working. She scanned the code, activated my membership properly, and then rescanned all of my items so I could receive the maximum discounts. I’m not even sure how much money I saved, but the level of customer service was top-notch. In the past, some cashiers attempted to help, but their frustration was obvious. That tension only increased my anxiety, and after a long day of work, I often either put items back or paid full price just to avoid the stress. Ashley was different. She walked me through the process patiently and with a genuine smile. She made me feel seen and acknowledged. So much so that instead of tossing my receipt, I held onto it specifically so I could write this review. I even tried calling the manager, Stan Hernandez, to share this feedback, but he had already left for the day—so I decided to leave it here instead. Why am I writing so much? Because when someone takes the time to help me, I want to take the time to acknowledge them. Thank you, Ms. Ashley, for helping me finally understand how to use the app properly. Because of you, my future transactions will go much smoother—and you turned an ordinary grocery run into a genuinely positive experience.

  UPDATED REVIEW: Thank you store managment for your kind and timely response. I love your store so much more than every other grocery store. I will be back, just this time I shopped at your Cedar location, but I don't like it as much as your store. Your store is much bigger and has more in stock than the other location. I have already placed another online order with your store, but I unfortunately had to transfer my prescriptions back out to another pharmacy that is not Vons. I have noticed continuous problems at the pharmacy. In addition to the hostile way the staff treats customers, my prescriptions seem to disappear once my provider submits them. They wanted my doctors office to resubmit for the 3 rd time. That is when I was forced to go outside of Vons because it is very embarrassing and suspect for a controlled substance (it was for sleep medication) to be continuously submitted a bunch of times. CVS had it instantly the first time. I know that you are addressing the issue, I just wanted to give that info for the store's and customer's benefit. I do appreciate the way management has responded to my issues over the years. Thank you.
