While some things have changed over the last few decades, El Pollo Loco's delivery of fresh, authentic food has not. Everything starts with whole chickens that are slowly marinated in a special recipe of herbs, spices, fruit juices and garlic. The chicken is then expertly fire-grilled to perfection the authentic way - on our signature open-flame grills - then hand cut into your favorite Mexican entrees. We put that same dedication and care into our handmade guacamole, salsas and dressings every day. At El Pollo Loco in Fontana,CA, we believe that when real food meets real fire the result is great taste that will keep you coming back again and again.
I usually love all their tacos. The shrimp, crispy chicken, and the birria taco (which they keep advertising on their website even tho they're no longer serving it). But on Friday, April 17th I went for my usual tacos (no birria was available this time, even tho it was on their website that evening); the chicken was not crispy, and the shrimp smelled very fishy and was placed in a very white tortilla; neither the shrimp or the tortilla it was in seemed cooked. I could not eat it and threw it away. Very disappointing.

Just pulled thru drive through and wow, I was blown away at how rude and unprofessional the staff was. From taking the order, to paying and requesting a few extra green sacuce, I have never felt so disrespected in my life. Great food, but please focus on customer service!

Walked into El Pollo Loco after surgery just trying to get something simple to eat, and what I saw honestly made the whole experience worse.
Most of the staff handling food weren’t wearing gloves at all. Out of everyone working, I only noticed one person with gloves on. The rest were grabbing cilantro and food items bare-handed like basic health and safety rules just didn’t exist.
Food safety guidelines are in place for a reason. If someone isn’t even willing to take the few seconds it takes to put on gloves, it really makes you wonder whether proper hand-washing is happening either. Restaurants are supposed to follow sanitation standards — things like actually washing hands thoroughly before touching food. That’s the bare minimum customers expect.
After surgery, the last thing anyone wants is to worry about whether the place making their food is following basic hygiene practices.
This location seriously needs to step up its sanitation and training. Customers deserve to feel safe eating there.
