My mom had placed an order for pickup of some ground beef and a few other things. While at checkout at Smart & Final her card was declined and we didn't know what was going on. Once outside we realized the shopper had substituted some very expensive ground beef and overdrawn her account. I went to customer service to ask for the order to be cancelled and refunded. The incredibly compassionate employee went way further and offered a much better solution. My mom didn't understand what was going on when we went to the car. I explained it to her and she was in tears for this act of kindness after a very hard month. I couldn't be more grateful for the impact this has had on her situation. Thank you!

There was a price discrepancy between what was advertised on the shelf and what rang up at the register. Instead of explaining or checking the issue calmly, she was short and dismissive, which held up the line unnecessarily. In the end, it turned out that I was right about the price, but she never apologized or acknowledged the mistake. Her attitude was unprofessional, especially toward customers who are just trying to pay for their groceries. This is not the kind of service I expect from Safeway, especially from a closing employee representing the store at night.
