While I normally love this store and shop here often, the behavior of one manager was unacceptable and crossed a serious line. I used self-checkout and did not realize the payment hadn’t gone through. As my 14-year-old son began to walk away, the manager pointed at him and said, “Not this guy,” as if my son had stolen from the store before. That comment was humiliating, accusatory, and completely inappropriate especially toward a minor who has never stolen anything and is always with me when we shop.It was very clear my son was judged and targeted based on how he dresses, and the assumption that he was stealing felt discriminatory. When I confronted the manager and explained that it was my mistake with self-checkout, he did not de-escalate or take responsibility. Instead, he shouted at me, making the situation even worse. A manager should know how to handle situations professionally, respectfully, and without profiling or embarrassing customers especially children. This experience was deeply upsetting for my son and left us feeling disrespected and unwelcome. Albertsons needs to seriously address this type of behavior.
