  Union Kitchen & Tap is one of those spots that really captures the Encinitas vibe without feeling overly touristy. It strikes a great balance between a solid dinner spot and a lively hangout, with a menu that leans New American but still has a little bit of everything. Whether you’re going for burgers, seafood, or something a bit more elevated, the food is consistently good and feels thoughtfully put together. The atmosphere is a big part of the draw. During the day it’s pretty relaxed, but at night it turns into a more energetic scene with a buzzing bar, good music, and a crowd that’s clearly there to have a good time. The patio is a great place to post up, especially with a drink in hand, and their craft beer and cocktail selection definitely holds its own. It’s the kind of place you can go for a casual dinner and end up staying longer than planned. Easy, fun, and consistently reliable, Union is a staple for a reason.

  Great place in Encinitas for food and drinks!! They have happy hour deals as well, M-F 3-6 with food and drink specials

  Poor customer service. Turning people away when they have an entire front patio with tons of seating still open.

  Dinner for two with a Rez on a Saturday. First visit. Great vibe and really great live music - Ottopilot. Service was very good and the bar food was better the average - mussels, Caesar Salad, fries and Prosciutto Flat bread all good to very good. Would definitely return.

  Came in today. It was not that busy. We were standing around waiting to be seated. A guy acknowledged us said it was gonna be a bit and then kept passing by without seating us so we ended up just sitting at the bar after waiting for a couple of minutes. The bartender checked our ID and gave us menus when we go to the bar. At the bar there were dirty plates that were not cleaned up. We sat for a couple of minutes without anyone checking up on us or taking our order. The server David was having a full blown conversation with another patron for a couple of minutes and then promptly left after the conversation without checking up on us to take our order. Then we sat alone with no one attending us. It was pretty ridiculous. All in all we were there for about ten minutes with no assistance pretty much ignored.
