I had 4 of the same $1.25 candies and I heard a beep with each item as I scanned them. However the Birds Eye camera flagged an unscanned item. So I waited and an attendant came by and said, “you tried to get one without scanning.” It was worded like an attack. It really rubbed me the wrong way. The blame was misplaced onto the customer instead of the self checkout software. Safeway - take it up the system level that the self checks are not working and need a better update.

We were looking for wing seasoning and Matthew from the meat department saw us lost looking for it and approached us, asked if we were finding everything ok, walked us to the aisle of spices, looked with us, radioed his coworkers for help, left to look elsewhere and came back to let us know they must be out of it.
