  I ordered a Prime Rib roast for Christmas dinner from the butcher. $197.00 roast which cost me $104.00 on sale(Vons loses money on this product at Christmas but they sell it this cheap for customer courtesy). Anyways I was so disappointed because my roast was just riddled with fat INTERNALLY. I showed a picture of it to the manager, Tony Kessner. I only wanted to buy another one at the discounted price yet the sale was over. He INSISTED on giving me my money back or fully replacing it. I chose to replace it. And it was SO AWESOME. He's a great manager and is all about customer service. I shop there all the time and it really paid off!! Thanks again Tony!!

  I love this store. I have been shopping there several times a week for 40 years. Staff is friendly and item selection very good. One word of caution. Check your receipt since a number of times I have had to get refund for overcharge on advertised items or Pick 4 items. But they don't hassle you about refunds for overcharge.

  We have shopped at the Vons on Avocado Blvd for over 35 years, spending close to $1,000 every month. What happened on December 3, 2025 around 7 p.m. was disappointing. Perhaps that’s because we have almost always dealt with the daytime staff, who have consistently been professional. While checking out with groceries and three bottles of wine, the cashier asked my husband’s birthdate. We are in our mid-60s. My husband calmly explained that a daytime supervisor at this very store year ago had told him the ID prompt was at the cashier’s discretion, used only if someone appeared underage or impaired. A supervisor then moved us to her register and personally bypassed the prompt, proving it was NOT a mandatory requirement for every customer. In addition, other Vons are not asking customer's birthday or ID unless the customer looks under 30. When my husband repeated the information we had been given prior ( politely), the nighttime supervisor suddenly accused him of being “hostile” and even of “misgendering” the cashier, despite us having zero information about pronouns. I immediately offered to apologize if we had unknowingly used the wrong form of address. Instead of clarifying or de-escalating, the supervisor told us we were “not welcome to shop here anymore” if we didn’t “respect” the cashier, and then turned away mid conversation. This level of hostility toward long-term customers is unbelievable. To make matters even worse, when my husband called the store director to report what happened, the director hung up on him — without warning, without resolution, and without a shred of professionalism. After three decades of loyalty, this store’s leadership made it abundantly clear that customer service and basic respect mean absolutely nothing here. At this point, we are seriously reconsidering whether we can continue supporting a location where customers can be dismissed, insulted, and pushed out for calmly asking a question about a policy the store itself cannot explain.
