We came here for a romantic early dinner and loved the candlelit, intimate vibe. It definitely sets the mood for a nice date night. We were seated quickly, and our server was very attentive. He gave us great recommendations
For drinks: I had the Tipsy Pink Flamingo Martini and my partner ordered the Mango Margarita. Both were delicious.
We started with the seafood tower with lobster and California Dungeness crab claws. The presentation was beautiful, and everything tasted fresh and flavorful. For dinner, we had the lobster mashed potatoes and the Porterhouse steak. The steak was thick, juicy, and cooked perfectly.
The food was amazing, but it did take about 30–40 minutes for the steak to come out since it was a busy Saturday evening. Still, the quality made it worth the wait.
We really enjoyed our night and plan to return — just maybe on a less busy evening.
Valet is $10 per hour. We ended up paying $30 for parking.

I have been going to Mastro’s for over 18 years, every New Year’s Eve, and it is truly sad to see how much the experience has declined. Over the years, prices have continued to rise, yet the quality of the celebration has gone from good, to bad, to absolutely terrible.
Years ago, New Year’s Eve at Mastro’s felt special. There were big balloons throughout the restaurant, guests were greeted properly, and champagne was offered. This year, there were only small balloons, no champagne unless you had a midnight reservation, and absolutely none of the excitement or upscale atmosphere Mastro’s used to be known for.
When I made my reservation, I specifically requested the bar area. Instead, we were seated in the very back, in what looked like a poorly added-on section of the restaurant. The area felt unfinished and uncomfortable. My chair was literally falling apart. It looked brand new but badly assembled. I had to ask the waiter to replace it, which should never happen at a restaurant of this level.
The food itself was good, and the service was good as well. Our waiter genuinely tried his best, and I give him credit. Unfortunately, good service alone could not make up for the overall experience. The added area was cold, uncomfortable, and lacked any sense of luxury. The quality of the surroundings, seating, and overall atmosphere was far below what you would expect from a $$ steakhouse like Mastro’s.
We were not greeted the way guests normally are at Mastro’s or any upper-class steakhouse. The entire experience felt rushed, careless, and poorly planned. Honestly, it felt worse than going to Outback, which is shocking considering the price point and reputation.
The one bright spot of the night was the lady bartender, who was absolutely fantastic and the highlight of the experience. Even the piano area felt off. The two piano players did not seem happy, and the energy in the room was noticeably low, which only added to the disappointment.
After nearly two decades of loyalty, this was by far the worst New Year’s Eve experience I have ever had at Mastro’s. For the prices being charged, the quality, atmosphere, and overall experience were simply unacceptable. Unless major changes are made, this will sadly be my last New Year’s Eve at a place that used to be a tradition.
