This review is for the Deli. The Deli employees at this Safeway deli that have been working here for years meaning over two years, have been great. My problem is the new person in charge of the department. I really didn't feel like arguing at 6am in the morning about an extra $1.00 charge on my wife's breakfast burrito because my wife asked for deli chicken instead of sausage, I asked the the Deli department supervisor why today specifically there's an extra charge? 90 percent of the time there's no charge and then every once in a while either they seem like they are in a bad mood or because their "Boss" is standing right there they want to add an extra charge. These are the newer employees that I'm referring too. She started explaining in an argumenative tone that that's the policy and it's been like that for years, which I was confused about because I knew it was a while ago but thought the policy was taken away. That's why when I buy from this deli 90 percent of the time I'm not charged extra for the breakfast burrito when I ask for chicken instead of sausage. I was trying to tell her that I understand but communication needs to be better with every employee new or old.. She starts rambling on about no it's the policy and cutting me off when I'm telling her that I'm still buying the burrito because my wife is hungry and I understand the policy is still there I'm just addressing the $1.00 charge that seems so random at times. I explained that the extra charge has happened before but it's almost 90 percent of the time that it doesn't. I guess she thought I was trying to still argue when I told her that people will be angry and will leave without even buying their breakfast, people complain about pennies these days. She didn't want to listen to me when I then decided that since she wants to argue that I could pull up my Safeway app and show that I'm rarely and I mean almost never charged extra. Overall the deli manager likes to get loud and argumentative at 6am in the morning. This review is just for a heads up for everyone to just go straight to the store manager she was a lot calmer and let me explain that I wasn't happy about the random extra charges and if it's policy to tell the deli manager to have better communication with her workers, all of them, she understood that I still needed breakfast and wanted clarification. The deli manager wanted me to start pointing out deli workers who haven't been charging me and I told her that I've known these people for a long time and I'm not ratting anyone out. The older white lady that's been working making sandwiches for a few months now is usually nice and has never charged me extra for anything but since her boss was standing right there her whole attitude changed towards me when I asked about the random extra charge so anyone be aware of that . Again, these two ladies wanted to argue with me at 6am in the morning when I just asked for clarification. Also the security guards at this Safeway need to understand that approaching customers when they seem angry about something is fine but approach and watch at a certain distance. There's a certain distance that an armed security guard when observing, can make customers seem at ease, meaning when a customer is angry but having a civil conversation with a manager back off and just watch at an appropriate distance. With my work history I know what will piss off certain people.

They had especially the meat with a digital coupon for $5.99lb, I applied the coupon through the app and showed it to the cashier and they did not honor the price was 12:30am they told me to come back early and talk to the meat department(ridiculous). But for the person before me who had a similar problem to mine, they called the manager to override the price and they honored the price, it seems that the money of that person was more valuable than mine and I spent more.I should have canceled my purchase for $200.
