The problem is I don't live in La Jolla, I live in Carlsbad. I don't want another Gelson's, I just need a good local grocer. Prices are now 30-40% higher than everyone else in town. I just stopped going. I go to the grocery store to keep costs down. I can eat out if I want to pay that much for groceries.

However, sometimes it’s just difficult to contact them for reporting any product concerns online. I bought s’mores cookie 5ct pack from la costa store in Carlsbad, CA on Monday evening . The ingredient label did not mention nuts as the allergen but the cookies has nuts topping , looked like almonds. Photos I took disappeared from my phone, amazingly. And the online enquiry form would not submit even after I filled out all the starred (essential) information!
- DCDavid CroleneDec 9, 20251.0This Pavilions used to be a Vons and back then there was some semblance of customer service. Today I stood in line for about 10 minutes. There was a line of probably five or six people behind me. There was one check stand open, and I got up to the check stand to buy a full basket of food and the cashier literally walked off on the job. I then waited another five minutes. Nobody came. The line was still behind me. There was no communication over the PA to get another cashier upfront. I had to get to an event after waiting 15 minutes to buy my full basket of food, so I left all my groceries there, I told told the baggers I had to leave. They didn’t seem to care. Whoever is managing staffing at this store needs to take a close look at how they’re doing business. Morale is horrible. I don’t think I’ll be going back there to shop. Bring back Vons!
