  SUBWAY 2048 KALA BAGAI WAY, BERKELEY. Quick heads up for folks about what our kids eat — I had a pretty concerning experience at this local Subway today and I plan to act on it. 1. I saw pieces of meat spread on top of each cheese compartments, directly touching and on top of the cheese. 2. ⁠When I pointed it out, the staff ignored it fully (a young lady claiming to be from Bangladesh) and tried to brush it off. 3. ⁠She didn’t change gloves or fix the setup even after I asked multiple times (important for vegetarians/allergy concerns). 4. ⁠Instead she added that she doesn’t even change gloves handling between meat and veggies. 5. ⁠There was also a large spider crawling around on the drink machine, which really raised concerns about overall hygiene. 6. ⁠On top of that, the vegetarian and chicken sandwiches weren’t labeled and orders got mixed up. 7. ⁠The sandwich itself was also stale, veggie looked old and bread dry and brittle, so I ended up not eating it. 8. ⁠To top it all, she refused a refund and a remake. Sharing this so others are aware — especially families with dietary restrictions. I’ll be reporting this to the county health department as well. Think of the busy, young, college students eating here!

  I can honestly say I hope this place gets shutdown. The manager was rude when I told her that I was gonna return the sandwich, she told me that it’s no return and got offended. Sandwich was dry, flat, with barely anything on it tasteless and disappointing. I called to speak with someone hoping to be able to get a refund or bring my sandwich back and she was defensive telling me it’s nothing wrong with the sandwich when I asked for a loaded sandwich, cheese and extra veggies, but she talked over me telling me it was the correct portion size. I upset smh

  Great service! Anita is so friendly. And even the short wait time is made shorter because she is welcoming. Sandwiches are fresh and loaded. Probably the best Subway we have been to!

  I've eaten there for years, although last I attended I got severe food poisoning. when I returned to inform the restaurant of the food poisoning, I watched the person handling the in a unsanitary manner such as you seen her cell phone before returning to food handling. while talking to the manager, she was more concerned apologizing rather than listening to the details of what happened.
