She rushed to ring all the articles when I told her I have a coupon for the ice cream on my phone. They rang at full price. I brought it to her attention again that the 4 ice creams are discounted. Her response was “it’s there” and raises her voice with the total. Again I point out that the screen is showing full price. Her response again is the same “it’s there.” To this, I tell her again that I am seeing the screen and it’s not reflecting the discount and to please ask someone for assistance if she’s having trouble with the discount. To this, she raises her voice to my 67 and 68 year old parents and I and tells us that “we need to back down and stop yelling because she will refuse ringing us and tell us to get out” At this point, a couple of customers behind me made the comment that the cashier isn’t list in the right. At this point, the cashier says “you didn’t show me the discount, need to show me the discount” and I tell her that this is what I’ve been trying to do. Then she was upset because she needed to ring everything again in order for the discount to go through. Never have we had such an awful experience at a Safeway, thanks to this cashier.

What he didn’t realize was that customer he was trying to answer for was my partner who had just finished their checkout. The thing is we always give Great reviews, but the idea that an employee is going to hold us up from checking out in order to fraudulently give himself a five star review is just crazy. It’s unseemly and rude and weird My biggest problem is with the management because whatever they’re doing is not incentivizing employees. The whole point is to reward employees and lead to quality performance and customer service. Instead, you’ve got employees at this supermarket, HOLDING UP the self checkout line so that they could game the system and fill out fake reviews when a customer walks away without doing it themselves.
