  Brought my golden retriever Biscuit along last Saturday afternoon and was thrilled to find a lovely patio where dogs are genuinely welcome, not just tolerated. The server brought out a little water bowl without us even asking, which honestly made us feel like regulars on the first visit. I ordered the garlic butter oysters and they were incredibly fresh, easily some of the best I've had in Victoria. If you're a dog owner looking for a spot where you can enjoy a proper meal without leaving your pup in the car, this place - well, Ferris' - is the one.

  Recently came with a few friends because we love oysters but I was very shocked they only carried one variety, usually when I go to oyster bars there’s a variety of sizes and flavour profiles, I personally only like the smaller ones and when we got our dozen they were all big, which was a little disappointing and shocking as every time I’ve order oysters they usually either give you a few choices or bring out a variety. We also just came in for a casual drink and a little snack and our server seemed like she was annoyed we weren’t spending more money and was very pushy.

  Our waitress was an absolute gem. I hope she stays there. She was a very good experience. Quick attentive, not over bearing, just there when needed. Prices are reasonable for Victoria, food was good. A long narrow restaurant/bar very pleasant evening we had.

  I have ordered chicken penne soup so many times through the years and the last two times I can’t eat it’s the soup is so greasy that you can see a layer of fat. The rice dumplings are overcooked on the outside and mushy raw in the middle. Either the recipe has changed or who ever is cooking it does not follow the recipe. The dumplings must be fried at too high a temp and they are pulling them out thinking they are done.

  Three of us stopped for lunch on a recommendation from our dining companion. We had hoped to be seated upstairs but the server said there was no lunchtime access to that area ( shame). Two things that we asked about on the menu were not available that day which seemed odd, but things happen with orders sometimes. We had the oyster burger, warm cauliflower salad with prawns and the chowder. Evidently the oyster burger was very light on oysters and tasted just ok...too much lettuce as filler. The salad was fine but certainly could have used more seasoning and our friend only finished half her chowder without making much comment....over all, the food was not what we'd hoped for. Our server was wonderful though - very personable, professional and seemed to be managing on her own, so kudos to her. I doubt we will make a return trip, although I see from the reviews that many diners have amazing experiences here.
