Nester's Market is only a block and a half from my apartment. Easy access, staff is friendly and efficient. Prices are relatively okay because it's downtown Vancouver. You can't expect really good deals.

Not shopping there anymore. I tolerated their ridiculous prices but went there today and spent about 20 bucks. i had forgotten my wallet but had a hundred dollar bill. The cashier got upset about this and huffed and puffed how they don't have any change and that they're not a bank. She commented that I should try harder and only bring small denomination bills. Never going there again. No Frills is a 10 minute skytrain ride and you get twice as much groceries for the same cost. Bye bye

I have been coming to the grocery store for about 10 years (I live above) and gotten to know a lot of the staff especially the cashiers some of which have been there that long and to be honest as of late they are the only reason I keep going and the fact that it is just convenient. Unfortunately, the newer staff is bringing the store down. With FIFA and tourists coming in, I would think you would want this store to shine.
So here are a couple issues; there are pallets in the aisle with 4-5 staff working so you cannot walk or shop properly (and safely) with boxes and plastic everywhere.
I have been in this country for over 20 years, I learned the language and culture proudly. Most of the new staff speak only Hindi or Punjabi and do so throughout the store and when I ask a question, they look at me oddly as if I should speak their language and they clearly do not understand English because they look at their phone for translation, or go find a person that speaks English (usually the above mentioned cashiers)
Even the security guard speaks his own language with the guy in the vegetable aisle while looking at me. Walking down the Aisles this is all I hear (speaking loudly in another language)
This is very inappropriate, and the basic policy of this store should be to communicate with the customers and others in English only (unless the customer is in need of translation). I should not be made to feel uncomfortable, and I should not have to work hard to find out where a product is. I can only imaging how uncomfortable the "older" staff must feel. I will say that the new cashiers (except for a couple) are very good and can communicate well.
Please train your new staff to learn where things are in the store and what things are.
Also a simple requirement to work in customer service should be to have a good command of the English language and the product that they are selling.

I hate to give a bad review but every morning when I come in there, the cashier named Cherry is never at The first checkout and she’s always busy doing other things and never sees me standing in line. Is there a way to have a cashier at The first checkouts I think it’s number three. It would be more convenient for the customers. The cashiers. Even when I come in in the afternoon to grab lunch, both cashiers are at the far checkouts and can’t see me standing in line
Maybe those checkouts don’t work until the evening. I’m not sure but they’re also bigger and it’s easier to put our stuff down. The far tiles are so cramped.
Just something to review just a thought to improve it thank you
