    I recently promised a friend Son that I would feed him dinner and we decided on individual beef Wellington steaks. These are a treat for anybody, but I thought for two people. It’s the right way to go otherwise you’re eating beef Wellington for a week. So then I went looking around on the Internet where they might be a good butcher shop close to where I live in Burnaby and then I thought no you don’t try a new butcher shop on something like this. You need to know that it’s good so I gave up on that route and I ended up thinking about grocery stores that I would shop at and I thought no to most of them. And finally decided I should give Savon Foods a try. I never go to them. I’ll see what they’re like so I called them. They told me if I wanted to beef Wellington steaks cut on a Saturday. That’s because we’re going to eat them on a Saturday I said no we’re having them on a Tuesday well then you can’t buy them on a Saturday it ruins the steak so they convinced me to wait until Tuesday I came in on the Tuesday. They cut the steaks. I said well they look good but I was hoping they’d be a little taller he said not a problem so he cut them taller. They were perfect when he handed them to me. It was like holding a piece of very soft butter. You can imagine my e excitement. Then I went to go and get the puff pastry that was promised me and discovered that it had just arrived in this massive transport truck full of puff pastry. I can’t possibly have it now. I said I have to have it right now or I won’t buy this beef because I’m going home to start putting this stuff together. I was told by the butcher that I have to buy the same day. We’re eating it and now I can’t do this so I’m gonna have to leave with nothing they said hold on. We’ll figure something out about 10 minutes later. Somebody came back with a package of puff pastry for me. I can’t believe how they bent over backwards for this little old lady wanting to have this particular piece of meat and the puff pastry and then I went and grabbed my asparagus and mushrooms that we’re going to be part of the menu. I went home with it. I spent the whole afternoon chopping and dicing up mushrooms into microscopic pieces, so tying them in butter and then packing them around these wonderful steaks and then keeping them in place around the steaks with prosciutto very fine thinly sliced prosciutto and then rolling out the puff pastry to encapsulate these lovely little pieces of beat. Then they both went into the fridge to wait till my company arrived. I got the rest of the stuff put together it was a hot day so I made a good spot show and put that in the fridge that would be our salad because it was absolutely loaded with fresh vegetable vegetables and it was. It was too hot to sit around Tryna make a salad survive through that heat and the Let me tell you we both love that I went back to the Savon foods at the corner of Wellington and Kingsway today a week later and said I need to speak with Jordan Jordan comes out. He looked really nervous and I said Jordan and he pushed head to his chest, and I said you cut the most absolutely amazing. Two beautiful beef tenderloin steaks I’ve had in decades. We both loved them, and then he started breathing again. He thought it was gonna yell I wasn’t gonna yell at him at all. I’ll be back there again. This butcher in the meat department sold me on on keeping the meat for one day only cause they’ve got a different kind of cooling system that we have at and the lovely people that managed to talk the transport people to open that massive truck and take out one box of pot pastry should all get a and everyone in that store treated me like I was the most important person in the city. I’m not. I’m just an old lady feeding my friend Son, but they treated me so special. I will always go back there if I’m going to make beef Wellington absolutely. I told him I said I came from Alberta, and I said this meat was equal to Alberta beef and I said the service here is also the best in the west thank you save on Foods

    So the new Thai noodle bowl was hugely disappointing and a waste of money as they forgot the noodles. It's even on the label it has noodles 🤦 Please make sure your deli knows how to make recipes before putting them on the shelves.

    Prices are sometimes higher than at Walmart or Safeway. However, the vegetables and fruits are fresh, however, the bakery section leaves something to be desired, where the options don't seem very fresh.

    Horrible experience. There’s an older indian lady working there who was incredibly rude and completely out of line. I asked for assistance and she told me, “Find it yourself in the store.” I even gave the benefit of the doubt thinking maybe it was busy but it wasn’t. I politely asked again if she could at least point me to the aisle, and she just looked at me over her glasses and rolled her eyes. I understand people can have off days, but taking it out on customers is not okay. It came across as very unprofessional and honestly just disappointing. I would never leave a negative review but this is the 3rd time I’ve had similar experience with the same employee.
