Brought relocating clients here while they were exploring Anaheim Hills and surrounding neighborhoods — it made a strong impression. Napa Rose sets a benchmark for fine dining in Orange County: beautifully crafted seasonal menu, impeccable service, and an elegant atmosphere inside the Grand Californian that feels genuinely special. For clients moving to OC from major metro areas, this is the kind of restaurant that instantly signals the region punches well above its weight on the dining front.

This is heart-breaking that I have to do this, but I need to raise the red flag, as I want to get their leadership's attention. We used to come here twice a year before the pandemic, and we were here twice after the pandemic. We used to love this place. It used to be the best restaurant in Los Angeles. This was our first time since the remodel. While it’s ecstatically and functionally much nicer, we were not pleased with the menu. 1. They don’t offer bread anymore. Before the pandemic, they had a nice breadbasket with 4 different types of bread. We loved it. 2. You can’t order a la carte anymore. You are forced to have the $188 prix fixe menu. It has 5 courses, and the waiter assured us that we wouldn’t need bread, as the menu is very filling. 3. I don’t need a waiter to tell me what I need or not need. The portions are extremely small. I even ordered the $30 Amuse Bouche caviar pillow, and we even ordered an extra dessert, yet we were still not full. 4. If I spend $1,000 (including tip) for a dinner for 2, I shouldn’t have to contemplate whether or not to go to McDonald’s after dinner to get full. If you are forcing me to order your 5-course prix fixe menu, then the least you could do is to give me enough food. Before the pandemic, they had proper portions and with an appetizer, an entrée and a dessert, we were more than full. I liked the dishes, but they must stop forcing guests to only have a prix fixe menu to order from. I thought that’s what the Chef’s table was for. Other guests should be able to order a la carte. And they have to bring back their signature breadbasket. We are not going back until their leadership acknowledges that they made a mistake and informs us that the a la carte menu and the breadbasket are back. So, feel free to dish out some heavy cash for your dinner and have the experience at the remodeled Napa Rose, but be prepared to go to McDonald's afterwards to get full.

Really had a great dining experience, fine dining at Disneyland. Beth was our server and helped in our wine selection with many choices. 6 course prix fixe meal with lots of varieties.

We recently stayed at the Grand California hotel and we were pleased to find that there was availability at Napa Rose. We have stayed at the hotel many times but it has been a few years since our family of four was able to make a reservation at the restaurant, so we were very pleased to have such luck. What we did not realize when booking—because it was not obvious nor mentioned—is that the restaurant has recently changed from an a la carte menu and pricing to a $200-per-person, four-course meal. It wasn't until we sat down and were given our menus, and were mystified by the absence of prices, that we discovered in the very fine print at the bottom of the menu that it was $199+ per person and there were no a la carte offerings. Feeling stuck at this point, as we were already seated and our kids were very hungry after a long day of travel, we stayed. As always, the food was good. The new cocktail menu was very creative. The service, however, was mediocre. The support staff that delivered and presented our dishes were very kind, friendly, and attentive, but our server was not (This is a server that has been with the restaurant for a long time, going back at least a decade). It was early in the evening and the restaurant was not busy; honestly, there were more staff members than patrons. Yet it was over 20 minutes before our server even asked for our drink orders. It was another 20-30 minutes before our drinks arrived, and we still had not been asked for our food order. In the only two instances in the first hour that the waiter stopped by to take our drink orders and deliver them, we had a few basic questions about the food, such as what he recommended and what would work for one member of our party who could not eat gluten. He seemed very annoyed by our questions and only offered quick, partial answers. Once we received our first course, we had been there over an hour. The delays continued this way, with the entire ordeal lasting nearly four hours. Luckily, we have two well-behaved, patient kids, but they were very, very tired when we were finished. I understand that a four-course meal can take some time, but the delay of everything was too much. I also want to say, while the food was good—really, Disney, what are you thinking, having one of the few hotel dining experiences be a $200+ per person, 3-4 hour dining experience at a FAMILY RESORT? Overall, while the quality of the cuisine remains high, the combination of the undisclosed, high-priced format and the severely lacking service turned what should have been a special family dinner into a frustrating and overly long ordeal. We strongly urge management to reconsider this new dining model, particularly for a hotel that caters to families, and to address the significant issues with the front-of-house service.

I really wanted to love my time at Napa Rose tonight. Most folks were so warm & considerate and most service was good. Front desk was great, the folks who were assisting the main server were amazing. Even walking to the bathroom folks went out of their way to assist with directions. I write all this to point out how great service was from most folks. I don’t know what we did to earn the displeasure from our main server, but she did not seem to care for us. The only thing I can really pinpoint was our disinterest in the wine menu and instead going for a mocktail from the cocktail menu. Her attitude felt like it swapped once it was apparent we didn’t want wine. It really soured the evening as her barely veiled displeasure at us was noticeable and honestly shocking for the caliber of restaurant Napa Rose is trying to be. The food was presented beautifully but honestly most dishes were just fine, not something I would want to try again. Dessert was the standout with some very unique and very good plates! I was really looking forward to the reopening as it is all very nicely redone, and maybe this particular menu is just not for me. All together the meal didn’t feel worth what we paid. With drinks and tip our bill was over $500 for two people. When I compare this experience to other high end restaurants in Orange County I feel I could get better service & better food for less.
