Classic Chain, nothing done poorly or overly well.
I gave 5 star before and truly meant it. Carrot cake ok but it should have walnuts or other nuts, more carrots, more spice namely nutmeg and cinnamon, other ingredients I put in as it is only just cake, very bare bones, 1 and half inch for $12.00. Will not order again. Yes the cream cheese icing is good.
If someone asked me where I grew up, I'd almost have to list this place as my childhood home. I swear this restaurant raised me. Some kids grew up on bedtime stories, I grew up on meals from here. I've spent so much time walking through these doors that I'm surprised my name isn't on the lease.
And then there's Maria.
At this point, calling her "just a server" feels inaccurate. Maria has been here so long and has dealt with so many people that I genuinely believe she could wake up tomorrow and become an astronaut, a doctor, an air traffic controller, or a hostage negotiator without breaking a sweat. If you can patiently handle the lunch rush, solve everyone's problems, remember countless orders, and still somehow smile through it all, you've already mastered half the skills needed for any career on Earth.
She's the kind of person who remembers people, makes everyone feel welcome, and somehow keeps the whole place running like a perfectly tuned engine. It's the sort of consistency you only get from years of experience and someone who genuinely cares about what they do.
The food keeps me coming back, but the people... (especially Maria) Are what make this place feel like home. If restaurants gave out Hall of Fame jerseys, hers should already be hanging from the ceiling.
Five stars isn't enough. This place didn't just serve me food. it helped raise me.and will stay with me for the rest of my life

I’m being completely honest, the food and atmosphere at this spot are pretty standard, fair-to-midling casual dining—but Adam and Lindsay elevate the entire experience to a five-star level!
From the moment we walked in, they teamed up to give us some of the best service we’ve had in Red Deer. Lindsay was incredibly welcoming, sharp, and kept our drinks topped up without us ever having to ask. Adam was hilarious, highly attentive, and went out of his way to ensure our modifications were handled perfectly by the kitchen.
It’s rare to find servers who are this genuinely friendly, professional, and fast, especially in a laid-back, average joint. They didn't just take our orders; they genuinely made our night.
If management is reading this: give Adam and Lindsay a raise! They are the absolute stars of this establishment, and we will definitely be back just to sit in their section

For the past two years, every single Wednesday has been the highlight of the week for me and my five boyfriends. We’re a proudly gay group, and there’s no place we’d rather spend Wing Wednesday than State & Main. What started as a casual night out for wings has become a tradition we genuinely treasure. Every week we look forward to catching up, sharing laughs, ordering way too many wings, and making more memories together. But what truly makes our Wednesdays special is Maria. She is, without a doubt, the best waitress we’ve ever had. She always greets us with a smile, remembers us, makes us feel welcome, and treats us with so much kindness and warmth. She goes above and beyond every single visit, and it’s because of her that State & Main feels like a second home. The wings are always incredible, the atmosphere is amazing, and Maria’s outstanding service keeps us coming back week after week. Thank you, Maria, for making our Wednesday tradition so meaningful. We love our Wing Wednesdays at State & Main, and we can’t wait for many more years of great food, great company, and seeing our favorite waitress every week.
