Unfortunately, Wingstop did not live up to the hype for our family.
We spent $94.50 on a 30 Classic Wings Crew Pack and a 16 Boneless Game Night Bundle, trying several different flavors. My teenage daughters were extremely excited after seeing Wingstop everywhere on social media and hearing about people waiting hours to try it. I even drove 25 minutes from the far north of Calgary to pick it up.
Sadly, the taste was below average. The chicken quality was disappointing, some wings were very dry with dark areas around the bone, and none of the flavors felt special enough to justify the hype.
We are a family of four, yet we ate only about 25% of the order because none of us enjoyed it enough to continue. A huge amount was left, as you can see in the photos.
Extremely disappointed and unhappy with our experience — I honestly wouldn’t recommend it; Calgary has plenty of wing places that are far better and actually worth your money.
For almost $95, this was definitely not worth the drive, price, or hype for us.
TL:DR I was not expecting this place to hook me the way it did. Very salty but also really good. Even at the higher price point, I'll be back.
The fries were seasoned in a style I more associate with Korean fry seasonings. It's like a three-part salt one-part sugar mixture. Either way, it was seasoned liberally and I enjoyed them by themselves and even more so with the cheese sauce. The cheese sauce in general just rules. Nothing fancy, but a 9/10 cheddar sauce.
I tried two wing flavors. The barbecue is basically a standard Kansas city style sweet (yes) and smoky (eh... not really) barbecue sauce. It's fine but nothing to write home about.
But the parmesan garlic is going to keep me coming back. Essentially what they've done is made a garlic butter and added that to the chicken and then dusted it with parmesan. And it just works. The chicken stayed crispy but every single bite was well coated. This is a loud flavour with very high salt content. If you crave salt and garlic and cheese with your fried chicken then you are going to leave happy.
The boneless wings themselves were a solid cube of white meat with a batter that was pretty thick and pretty crispy. Which is what a place that sells itself on having interesting sauces should have. The size of the nuggets was wildly inconsistent.
They're also a coke place so that's a point in the win column.
It isn't cheap. It was 16 bucks for a combo with fries and a drink and six wings. In saying that, I was full, and pleasantly surprised at the size of the french fry order. They did refills on the drinks and service in general was actually just really good. Now they just need to actually get added to their own company's freaking website. Maybe when the bigger MacLeod Trail one opens soon?
Good stuff👍🙂
We were excited to try Wingstop but were disappointed. The Staff were great, the restaurant had a good energy but the food fell flat. It was pretty crowded so we just got take out instead of waiting for a table. We tried the hot honey rub, lemon pepper, Louisiana Rub, Garlic parm, honey garlic and spicy Korean. The louisiana rub and the spicy Korean was the only standout. The rest were bland. I would go back for the corn ribs and ranch, they were great.
I had wingstop many times in the states and its really similar. All of the flavors were great, although some dry rubs are missing a little more seasoning compared to the states. Overall the wings were delicious. I came on Friday and waited in line and got the food in 40ish mins. The only thing I had an issue with was that we paid for extra 4 ranch but we never got it after getting home and checking the bag.

Honest review: Louisiana rub, Garlic Parmesan, and Hot honey tenders were hitting the spot. Ask for extra hot honey on ur tender for me it wasn't enough. I also tried the Cajun and Atomic-flavour tenders. Personally, I would not recommend it unless you like tangy flavour. Voodoo fries seem like overrated didn't really hit the spot. I would stick with regular fries unless u like poutine nd stuff. Forgot to order Cajun fried corn :(
In line, I waited for about 10-12 min nd order was ready in another 10-12 mins (Tue night) which seems to be fair because the tenders were really crispy nd felt freshly made. Customer service was on point too. Also, pls don't forget to put napkins nd forks, especially when someone has ordered voooooodooooooo fried :p
Request to the owner pls open one location in N.E too.
