I took a seat at the bar and Justin (the bartender) attended to me and brought me my food at drinks. They have an amazing and overall impressive tequila selection. The food and service was amazing as well. If I could rate it 10 stars I would because 5 doesn’t seem like enough. I will definitely be coming back!
- RTRemy TSep 28, 20261.0I’m genuinely disappointed with Blanco on 17th Ave. I’ve been here before and remember it being much better, but this experience was bad enough that I can’t imagine returning. Our waitress was nice, which is the only reason I’m not giving one star, but the overall service felt extremely inexperienced. Even when we dealt with management, there didn’t seem to be much confidence or professionalism in handling customer concerns. The food was the biggest problem. Everything was overwhelmingly salty. The chips were so heavily seasoned they honestly tasted closer to Doritos than fresh restaurant tortilla chips, and after only a few bites of the food, I was unbelievably thirsty. Nothing about the meal tasted fresh or remotely authentic to me. The margaritas were also packed with so much ice that they felt like poor value for what you’re paying. Between the drinks, food quality, portions, and prices, the entire experience felt more like an overpriced chain version of fast food than the Mexican restaurant Blanco presents itself as. What concerned me most is that everyone in our party experienced gastrointestinal symptoms after eating here. Obviously I can’t personally determine what caused that, but when an entire group feels unwell after the same meal, it’s concerning enough that I think the restaurant should take a serious look at its kitchen practices and food handling. There are so many excellent locally owned Mexican restaurants in Calgary that put real care into their food. After this experience, I’d much rather support one of them. Blanco has gone dramatically downhill in my opinion. For the prices they charge, the quality and experience should be significantly better.

We had a couple of tacos and frozen margaritas, and everything was delicious and really enjoyable. Our host, Keighly, was amazing. She went above and beyond and did a really great job taking care of us. The atmosphere was also great for relaxing and catching up with friends. Highly recommended.
