If you’ve been living in the northwest quadrant of Calgary over the past few years, you might have felt a distinct lack of shaved roast beef in your life. Craving that signature meat used to mean making a trek to the south end of the city. Thankfully, the drought is over. The brand-new Arby’s location in NW Calgary has officially opened its doors to the public, and it is an absolute game-changer for the local fast-food landscape. Having visited recently, I can confidently say that this spot is serving up some seriously delicious comfort food that hits perfectly every time.
Walking into the newly minted restaurant, the very first thing you notice is how fresh and modern the entire interior feels. Gone are the dated, tired dining rooms of yesteryear; this new Arby’s boasts a clean aesthetic with bright lighting, comfortable seating, and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff members were friendly and remarkably efficient, even while navigating the inevitable rush of excited locals eager to get their favorite sandwiches. Despite the long line during the lunch rush, my order was taken with a smile, and the food came out piping hot in record time.
Now, let’s talk about the undisputed star of the show: the food. I went with the heavyweight champion of the menu, the classic Double Beef 'n Cheddar, and it was spectacular. The roast beef was sliced impossibly thin, piled incredibly high, and was exceptionally tender. It practically melts in your mouth with a savory richness. What elevates this sandwich to true fast-food royalty is the flawless combination of the warm onion bun, the tangy kick of the Red Ranch sauce, and that wonderfully gooey cheddar cheese sauce cascading down the sides. It is wonderfully messy, deeply indulgent, and absolutely delicious. Each bite is a masterclass in balancing savory, salty, and tangy flavor profiles.
Of course, no trip to this establishment is truly complete without an order of their legendary Curly Fries. The kitchen staff at this new NW location nails them perfectly. The fries arrived fresh out of the fryer, boasting that ideal structural integrity—crispy, deeply seasoned with that signature zesty coating on the outside, yet fluffy and hot on the inside. Dipping those spiraled potatoes into a little cup of warm cheddar cheese sauce is a culinary experience in itself.
To wash it all down and complete the meal, I couldn’t resist treating myself to their perfectly blended, classic Jamocha shake. It was decadently thick, delightfully creamy, and carried just the right blend of rich chocolate and robust coffee flavors, acting as the perfect sweet counterbalance to the heavy, savory meal.
Ultimately, having this new Arby’s in NW Calgary is a massive win for the neighborhood. It proves that the franchise still knows exactly how to deliver satisfying, high-quality, and downright delicious meals. If you haven’t stopped by this location yet, do yourself a huge favor and go try it out today. They undeniably have the meats, and they are preparing them flawlessly right here.
