We were a couple visiting this restaurant, I love spice and she prefers mild or even none spicy.
Taco was a nice choice. The fish taco wasn't spicy but the rest were more on the heat side.
Jojo was a great waitress, very patient with many questions we asked, polite and lovely to chat with. She also brought us a spicy house mayo which tasted good.
Overall, a very good restaurant.

So first of all, this review comes from a woman who knows Mexican food. Her background having spent time in Texas, which is a sentence all into itself, but is buffered by really good Mexican food. Anejo is a gem here in Banff. Jess is the best server cause she’s gonna tell you where you need to go. Follow her directions and you’ll be a happy camper. If you’re smart, you’re gonna come here to this restaurant during happy hour 3 to 5 people. Stop reading this go get some good food and some excellent tequila drinks

We recently visited Anejo in banff to celebrate my husband’s birthday with some close friends. Even though we reached there close to the closing time the staff did a great job from cooking our meals to serving. They also gave us a dessert which was Lemon Cake-Dulce de leche, omg that was sooo amazing.
I must say try their House of Salsa tasting, Tortilla soup, Assorted Tacos, Chicken tinga quesabirria, Chile relleno or honestly anything and everything.
Awesome experience every single time we visit. 🤩
Wow! Coming from California, I didn’t expect such great Mexican food in Banff town. There was not a bad bite or sip in this place for all 8 people in our party!
We ordered the summer ceviche which was so fresh and citrus forward but the beet and mixed seafood made it have a great texture. Then the salsa taster and OMG the salsa macha/chilli crisp thing was to die for!
The table side guacamole was excellent and the steak was a great take compared to every other way it’s presented in town.
Our drinks were all delicious, some of the fruit margaritas were a bit sweet but the spicy ones were awesome and the tequila selection is phenomenal.
We had an extremely disappointing experience at your restaurant.
After being seated, we waited approximately 15-20 minutes without being greeted, offered water, or acknowledged by any staff member. During that time, we approached another server—a woman with short bleached hair and glasses—and politely asked if she could let our server know we were waiting. Her response was incredibly rude: she told us, “He will come when he’s ready,” and walked away.
We continued waiting while our assigned server repeatedly walked past our table, attended to other guests, and engaged with them, yet never stopped to acknowledge us. We asked the same server for assistance a second time, but she simply pointed toward our waiter and made no effort to help. At that point, it became clear that the staff were aware we had been left unattended, yet no one stepped in to address the situation.
What made the experience even more upsetting was that we were the only asian
guests in the area, while the surrounding tables were being served promptly. Whether intentional or not, the way we were treated felt discriminatory and left us feeling unwelcome.
Eventually, our server came to our table and apologized for the delay. We requested to speak with the manager and explained our concerns. While the manager offered us a complimentary appetizer, we declined because the issue went far beyond a simple service delay. We chose to leave the restaurant instead.
We are shocked and disappointed by the lack of professionalism, courtesy, and basic hospitality shown by multiple members of your staff. Banff welcomes visitors from all over the world, and guests should be treated with respect regardless of their background.
We strongly encourage management to provide additional training on customer service, professionalism, and respectful communication. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we will not be returning, nor will we be recommending your restaurant to friends and family.
We hope you take this feedback seriously and use it as an opportunity to improve.
