*Review for KFC West Kelowna, BC*
I've been a regular KFC customer and genuinely enjoy the food, which is why I've continued patronizing this location despite ongoing issues. However, after multiple frustrating experiences, I feel compelled to share my concerns.
*Incorrect Operating Hours*
The most significant problem is the disconnect between posted hours and actual operations. The Google search still lists closing time as 11 PM, but the location now closes at 9 PM. Even more concerning, the store frequently closes well before 9 PM—I've arrived at 8:30 PM multiple times only to find the doors locked. On one occasion, staff claimed the drive-through was still open, but I witnessed another customer on a previous visit being turned away from the Drive-Thru at that exact time. When I questioned this, I was told they need time to clean. If that's the case, the posted hours should reflect 8:30 PM, not 9 PM. This is particularly problematic for a rural location where customers drive significant distances—I travel 20 kilometers specifically for this KFC.
*Mobile Ordering Issues*
Yesterday, I attempted to order through the KFC app before driving in, as that's where the current promotions are available. The app repeatedly displayed error messages, forcing me to make the 20-kilometer drive without knowing if I could place an order. Once in the parking lot, the online order finally went through, only to receive a phone call one minute later informing me they were out of chicken wings—a main item in my order.
*Customer Service Concerns*
Being already in the parking lot due to technical glitches with the KFC app I entered the store to address these issues in person, the staff member that called me to say they had no wings, was dismissive, stating "those are your options, take it or leave it" before hanging up abruptly. When I was at the location, this same employee appeared to be crying (not sure why, considering I was the one she was extremely rude to) seemingly attempting to reframe the situation. I manage customer service teams professionally, and this interaction fell well below acceptable standards. The manager was courteous, but the overall experience was unacceptable.
*General Observations*
The facility has a persistent mildew odor, and food quality has been consistently subpar—often arriving mushy and slimy. Given the current prices and reduced portion sizes, customers deserve better. The store is frequently empty, which speaks volumes. I've eaten at KFC locations across nearly every Canadian province, and this is by far the worst experience I've encountered.
I plan to escalate these concerns to regional and corporate management. Until significant improvements are made, I cannot recommend this location to anyone...I even had to send the picture of their "NEW" store hours to Google with proof so it will present accuracy to other people that drive distances to go to this store because it appears they do not even have the consideration to do it themselves.
Save your time, patience and money, go to Popeye's. Little more pricey, but always great service, bigger portions and the food tastes much more fresh.
