Thursday, March 26, my birthday. I decided to wine and dine with friends at Perro Negro.
We were a little bit late for our reservation due to traffic, which was no problem. They held our table for us.
We were welcomed into a beautiful dining room.
Our server Maddy was quick and attentive to the fact that we needed to order right away.
She ordered us some small plates that were absolutely delicious.
I’ve worked in the Restaurant industry, my entire life. Flavours and food presentation was spot on!
The manager Kevin
was able to spend time with us explaining some of the dishes
and helped us order the perfect things for our evening.
MADDY and KEVIN made me feel special on my birthday!
I’ll be back to order Everything on the menu
and drink perfectly refined cocktails!
Thanks again. It was a very special evening.

Thoroughly enjoyed an amazing birthday dinner at Perro Negro! The Restaurant Manager’s menu recommendations were on point, every dish was thoughtful, delicious and beautifully plated. Service staff were warm and welcoming, especially our server (Maddy) was particularly attentive and accommodating. Already can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. Overall— top shelf experience, highly recommend!!!

We've had a couple of previous good experiences at Perro Negro, back when it only opened a couple of days per week. But now that it's a full-time arm of Ferris Oyster Bar (which we've enjoyed dozens of times), well, it was a disappointment. The front of house staff mostly chewed gum and posed for selfies, then occasionally dropped plates onto our table while breezing past. They were clearly indifferent, perhaps dreaming of the better careers they'd have someday. Wine service was first-day-on-the-job level, despite ordering the most expensive bottle. The food came up suspiciously quickly, and mostly at disappointing temperatures. We felt rushed out which was odd given it was early and the place was empty. The manager (owner?) asked how we liked it as we left, and I took a chance because he seemed interested, but then he argued with me instead of listening. When I commented that his staff appeared disinterested he told me all his other customers disagree. Ah, sorry to bother you then. I'll carefully align my opinion with your other customers next time. And I'm sure your other customers never mumble something vague but positive because, well, that's just what we Canadians do. Trust the praise and discount the critique, right?
