Tomatoes proudly marked being locally grown and with 'buy BC' stickers were below any level of quality and definitely not for a human consumption. These tomatoes (plu: 4664) were artificially make to look ripe and red while they were obviously harvested far before their real mature, ripe state. If this is locally grown then it can be delivered from the green house to this shop in less than 2 hours. Evidently this is not the case. Tomatoes that I bough finished in garbage. They were not ripe but already they started to rot. It is not the first time having this experience with tomatoes at this store. They look nice, and you make a mistake. After three times I finally learned my lesson to not buy any produce at this store. It is shameful that such a big store resorts to this type of tricks. I will also contact Health Canada to see how legal is this artificial ripening process. Nutritional value of not naturally ripe produce is minimal, while the taste is basically non-existent. Yet we are charged a premium price for these small red rotten water balloons.

Expensive, bad service. One cashier with enormous line. I've never waited this long at NoFrills.

Apparently this location cares more about selling wine than your safety. I and a good size line of others were standing at the self checkout. Since the line was getting longer I tucked into the nearby aisle to stay out of the way. The staff working the wine area immediately rushed over and asked me to mot block customers shopping in the wine section. I pointed out that I would then be blocking the aisle (which I’m fairly sure is a fire safety code violation) to which she replied ‘That’s fine’. Deeply unimpressed. Emailed as requested and received this: “Sometimes the information does not carry forward correctly, so they generally refer people to the Customer Service department for assistance. I can understand why that would be frustrating and would like to help, but unfortunately I have no information regarding the original concern.” Seems clear there’s no internal communication and they avoid addressing issues publicly by using the canned ‘contact us’ reply.

It's time to lose the reverse alarms. Your vans drive around neighbourhoods disturbing *everyone* while delivering groceries to a *few*. The research shows they are ineffective, unnecessarily loud, and can be heard for 2 blocks in all directions. Companies, like amazon, who still believe in them for some reason, at least switch to the 'brush' style sounds. How about Save-on-Ears. Please. Read your manual, shut them off. Here’s a summary of the law in British Columbia law and current research: Legal status (BC): The BC Motor Vehicle Act does not require grocery or general delivery trucks operating on public roads to have backup alarms. Requirements are for workplace or job-site contexts, not normal street deliveries. Effectiveness: Research shows backup alarms don't actually work. Traditional tonal beepers are often hard to localize and are ignored over time. “white-noise” - brush-style alarms perform far better for localization and attention. See what Amazon does and if you must have an alarm, do that. Negative impacts: There is strong evidence however for the noise pollution, community annoyance, sleep disruption, and alarm fatigue. Repetitive loud alarms reduce effectiveness and raise stress levels for blocks around the vehicles without meaningful safety gains. Best practices & alternatives: Current best practice is no back-up alarm for urban delivery vehicles, but if people must, then use the broadband or self-adjusting/directional alarms, with low and careful volume tuning, and combining sound with cameras, sensors, visual warnings, route design, and driver training. These approaches provide the feeling of safety while reducing unnecessary noise. Overall conclusion: Drivers are responsible for safety, not ineffective, outdated technology. Read your fleet documentation. Please shut it off.
