Jan 14, around 5:50–6:00 PM, my wife entered the store to order a sub while I was standing nearby and observed the entire interaction. A staff member named Rupinder was preparing my wife’s sandwich. At the same time, a young Indian female customer who had already paid remained at the counter and continued a personal conversation with the staff member. During the preparation of my wife’s order, they talked continuously, discussed Instagram, and exchanged phone numbers. The staff member did not pause the conversation or ask the other customer to wait, which delayed the preparation of my wife’s order. While my wife was paying by card, the staff member continued engaging with the other customer—handling her phone, entering Instagram details, and focusing on that interaction instead of the transaction in front of her. Totally dismiss my wife the whole time. My wife is East Asian, and based on what I observed, this interaction felt noticeably different compared to how staff interacted with Caucasian customers before and after, who were served attentively and without similar distractions. This is not an accusation. We live near Central City, and similar differences in service have been observed frequently in the area.
