I am writing to formally raise a concern regarding an experience at Nesters Gateway involving an employee named Joleen that left me feeling racially judged and deeply disrespected. As a brown person who was born and raised in Canada, I felt singled out through her tone, facial expressions, and overall demeanour, which came across as judgmental and discriminatory rather than professional or welcoming. Her voice became raised and aggressive, as though I was forcing her to do her job, which was both intimidating and inappropriate. While scanning my items, she handled them roughly and threw them aside, which felt disrespectful and hostile. I was addressed abruptly, without basic courtesy, and made to feel uncomfortable as though assumptions were being made about me based on my appearance. This went beyond poor customer service and crossed into behaviour that felt biased and demeaning. This experience caused genuine distress and has affected my trust in her ability to treat people with fairness and respect. I believe this matter should be reviewed by HR, and that appropriate action, including corrective training or removal from this location, be taken to ensure such behavior is not tolerated within your company. I would not want anyone else to go through the same hurtful experience in the future.

I want to give a big appreciation to Prabhdeep at Nesters Market for her exceptional dedication and support during my recent visit. I’m not sure which department she works in, but she went out of her way to help me with my groceries and made everything easy and stress-free.
I actually forgot to leave a review the same day, but her kindness and dedication truly stood out, so I wanted to make sure she gets the recognition she deserves. The store is very lucky to have such a hardworking and customer-focused team member.
I’ve been shopping at Nesters Market Gateway for years, and I’ve never had an experience as uncomfortable as the one I had with the head cashier, Joleen I guess she’s new (pink hair and glasses). The way she was interacting with customers felt dismissive, unprofessional, and honestly very unpleasant. While standing in line, I watched how she spoke to multiple customers, and the tone was the same with everyone rushed, irritated, and lacking basic courtesy. What shocked me the most was the way she spoke to another cashier. The younger staff member looked genuinely uncomfortable, and it was upsetting to witness. What concerns me even more is how she carries herself. She acts with the customers as if she’s the store manager, when she clearly isn’t, and the way she talks down to people destroys the welcoming environment this store is known for. I honestly don’t feel comfortable shopping here on days she’s working because the entire front end feels tense and negative . This store has always had friendly, respectful, and welcoming employees, which is why I’ve been a loyal customer for so long. That’s why this experience stood out so much. The atmosphere at the front end felt tense and negative because of her behavior. I really hope management or HR reviews her conduct, because this is not the standard of service this location is known for. Someone like this should not be in a position representing the front end of the store. Customers deserve professionalism, respect, and a positive experience and staff members deserve to feel supported, not talked down to. Something needs to be addressed urgently.

The security always lurking around can get odd but, other than that, 👍👍
