I was there for a work office party. The "pre" appertizers were good but my appitizer, I ordered soup and was not hot. When we ordered the steak and prawn choice you did not get to choose how it is cook. I like mine medium rare and my husband likes Chicago rare and was told only medium. My coworker said she likes hers Medium rare too. Well, when the steaks came mine was larger then the other 2 so I was a bit luckier but my coworkers was well done and my husbands was tough. The prawns were horrible. The creme brulee for dessert was just ok and the cheese cake was creamy. I have been to many other Boathouses with the preset menus and I have never been told I can not order the steak to my liking. This unfortunatley was the worst experience.
Also the staff must be trained how you put a steak knife on the table correctly. The waiter put the knife with the sharp point towards us and the handle towards the table center. That is incorrect and dangerous. I have never been severed the steak knife like that and it was not just my knife but the others too. IF you work in the restaurant industry you should know how to set the cutlery on the table.
I will not go back to this loaction.
Very disappoiting for an office party. will not happen there again.
Tonight is the second to last night of dine out, which is listed on their website as ending March 7. After our waiter told us that they believed dine out had ended in early Feb, they said they would honour the dine out price ($40 instead of $56) on their 3 course menu, with 2 additional entree choices. That's great, even though we didn't get the full choice of dine out appetizers and deserts. But it wasn't ultimately honoured when the bill came.
Like other reviewers mention, most of the food was mid and not worth the price.
Pros: steak and salmon entrees were cooked nicely. Chowder was decent.
Cons: Cesar salad, calamari and the sides that come with the sake salmon dish were sub par.

Food was amazing as always. Service was horrible. Our "server" Bree, didn't even acknowledge us. We only know her name because we overheard her say it at other tables. Our order was taken by the hostess and food was brought by someone else. Would have loved refills of our coffee and ketchup for our potatoes, but she always ran past us and never made eye contact when I tried to wave her down. She only had 2 other tables when we were seated. When new tables came, she was very attentive to them. Never even stopped to ask how our meals were. Only came by when our plates were empty and offered coffee at that point... of course when we were ready to leave. She didn't even bring us the bill. I had to go to the hostess to request the bill and pay. Worst experience ever at a boathouse restaurant.
Don't waste your money or time, celebrate somewhere else!
We went to the Boathouse in the Quay tonight for their Valentines Day special and we're beyond disappointed. For a restaurant that was once highly respected, this was more than just a let down.
We were seated outside on the covered patio (which we were told was heated). It was so cold that multiple tables were complaining, to which servers gave different answers ranging from "the heaters are turned all the way up" to "the manager is the only one who can adjust them". No one was allowed to move inside as they were "booked" (but tables were empty. In addition, the acces to the patio was through a set of sliding doors that were clearly broken. One of the waiters hit the broken door and it almost fell onto of the guests at the table next to us. Instead of fixing the door, the waiters agreed just to prop it up on the return glass, causing major liability.
We ordered the Valentines Day Special, which was 165$ plus taxes for two appetizers, two mains and a shared dessert. The only food that was even remotely warm was the free bread. We both had the halibut, which was luke warm and dry. We had to ask for more of the bernaise sauce that it was supposed to come with. The waitress brought us a gravy boat with the additional sauce, and it was ice cold. When we finally got our lava cake, it was much of the same. It was like they had taken the lava cake out of a freezer and put it on the plate with ice cream (the cake wasnt even warm enough to melt the ice cream on top, let alone the inside).
Unfortunately the server didn't help the situation. We had to continuously mention we were getting the special (which she had no knowledge of). My husband ordered the bisque and we had to wait 20 minutes for a spoon to be brought to the table. The other waiters and waitresses were no help- the atmosphere was constantly being interrupted by them coming out of the broken sliding doors and going table to table asking who had ordered what because they had no knowledge of the dining system that was set in place. To add insult to injury, the pay terminals were set up that the lowest tip amount was 18%.
We weren't able to speak to a manager as they were already held up be talked to by another unhappy customer, but this was not the Boathouse that we were accustomed too. I'm not aware if this location is also closing like the Port Moody one, but we will not be returning.

I got a reservation for this place for Valentine's Day after an OpenTable notification mentioned there was an opening for outdoor seating. I wanted to check to see if the outdoor seating was heated and covered, as I saw online that tomorrow is cold and potentially rainy. Initially, the person who answered the phone seemed polite. I just asked if the outdoor seating was heated and covered, but she had to go and check twice with her manager how to answer my question., which I thought was a bit much. The second time she came back from speaking with her manager, she said that there would not be outdoor seating. I then asked if my reservation would not be accepted, as it stated on OpenTable that my seating was in fact for outdoor seating (an area that supposedly will not be available tomorrow). She said that I do have a reservation for outdoor seating, but that really didn't answer my question at all. I pointed out that there is a disconnect between her saying that the outdoor seating area will be closed, and me having a reservation for outdoor seating on OpenTable. This worker didn't really comprehend that disconnect. The conversation was on loop, and yet she did not fully answer my question, so I had to break it down to simple yes/no questions like "if I come to the restaurant tomorrow, will I be turned away because my reservation is for an area that will be closed off?" She told me no, but was unclear as to where we would actually be seated. I ended the conversation with a thank you and see you tomorrow, thinking I would just show up with my wife and see what happens. However, the woman on the phone had a terse, quite dismissive goodbye and hung up abruptly - not slamming, but did it in a way that was clearly upset. I canceled my reservation afterwards. I will not go to a place that can't even answer a simple question without losing their cool. I think that worker needs to develop better communication, and I can't imagine what would happen if I went there and the server was that unclear. Not sure if it was the FOH worker answering the phone, but if it was, do yourself a favour and minimize your interactions with that person if you so choose to go to this place.
