I stopped before I saw her coming and she still ran into my cart but I didn’t have time to back up. She’s the one running around when the store is not busy. I appreciate calm shopping experiences and not high strung rudeness. She seemed to be working the self checkout when I left and I gave her a smile goodbye.

While checking banana chips to see its freshness placed along pulses and dry fruits in bug containers, the staff member started arguing and told me I could not touch the item and place it back. I found this response surprising, as in most grocery stores, customers are allowed to examine items such as vegetables, pulses and packaged goods before purchasing. What made the situation more concerning was that the staff member herself was visibly unwell — with cold — and was not wearing a mask. Her tone while explaining that touching items could cause infection was not acceptable yet neither she nor other staff members were wearing gloves or masks. I calmly said I would keep that in mind and walked away to avoid an argument, but the encounter left me feeling uncomfortable and disrespected as a customer. I understand the need for hygiene protocols, but the way it was communicated could have been more polite and consistent with the store’s own practices. I’m sharing this feedback in the hope that customer interactions in the future can be handled with more courtesy and consistency.
