I normally am a tolerant customer in general, since i myself have worked for SaveOnFoods for 36 years. Stuff happens once in a while i get that regardless of which business. I felt the need to post this as it seems lately a pattern of bringing home what looks like fresh produce, until i cut into it or bite into it and find its rotten inside,,, Annoying but somewhat tolerable, but when it comes to to the costs found in the meat department (any meat department) buying rotten meat that (according to the label) was freshly packaged 24/48 hours earlier is not tolerable.
Both myself, that purchased a family pack of lean ground beef packaged yesterday according to the date, and a friend of mine who purchased the same product dated a day earlier. Her meat was literally decomposing with a smell nobody wants to experience just two days after its packaged date,,, and mine wasn't quite that bad but certainly was not smelling very good for only been in my fridge 24 hours. Absolutely disgusting and not acceptable, sorry.
From years of experience this result only happens two primary ways,,,,,,,, either the cold-chain on that batch of meat was horribly botched and at some point left at room temperature for WAY to long,,, or the meat is been re-wrapped and re-labelled as freshly packaged (not saying thats what happened but could be a reason),,,,both terrible ways of handling meat products. The fact two back to back product dates had this result,,,,,,,, I'm loosing some confidence in trusting BuyLow at this point. Years later i must "EDIT" my review and not in a good way unfortunately. In short this is by far consistently the worst grocery store i have ever shopped in. Rotten produce present every time I shop including constantly old "GREEN" potatoes. News flash Buy low,,,, green potatoes are BAD!!!! they will produce two harmful results. Chlorophyll and Solanine,, solanine is a natural pesticide toxic to humans that can make people very ill like a bad case of food poisoning " Please stop selling this garbage".,,,,,,, Also empty product allocations, or out dated product all over the store. The highest prices compared to competitors. Thankfully i have found some much better options in town to pick up some of my groceries and if i could do all of my shopping elsewhere I'd never step back into Buy low. Having said what I've said,,, i do like most of the staff and feel how the store is presenting itself is more of a management,,,, and short staff issue.
