This store’s bag policy has become frustrating and feels like greenwashing. First they stopped giving out plastic bags, then started charging for single-use plastic bags, then removed those, then charged for reusable plastic bags, and now they don’t offer those either. The only option left is to use paper bags, while 60% or more of the products in the store are still wrapped in single-use plastic. Good luck carrying the handless paper bags on the bus.
I do appreciate the store’s efforts to reduce food waste, but shifting the plastic issue onto consumers is unfair. If the goal is real environmental accountability, then when was the last time this store refused to sell products from major vendors that are wrapped in single-use plastics? It feels like customers are being held responsible while the store avoids addressing its own plastic footprint.
Given that this particular location doesn't have reusable bags, I will not shop there anymore.

Was returning stuff, and this elder woman with glasses approached me from the bottle depot and questioned me, not minding her own business already threw me
Off as she came from the other side and walked all the way just to say all that bs (works with bottle depot beside the self checkout). As i was already getting help from a kind woman who told me its okay just proceed. She then says im not listening and then cuts me off
When i told her nicely im already getting help, the other woman even said “dont worry i can handle it” as she still kept giving me instructions that were unnecessary.
Extremely rude and horrible as I’ve also been told by others she has been treating others badly.

It's a real letdown to encounter arrogant staff at this Save on Foods, especially when I'm just trying to use my hard-earned points. But kudos to Josie, the Filipino employee who always rolls out the welcome mat for my wife and me – she's a real 'points' of pride for the store!

Right on a major bus route, with multiple alternative meal options, if you happen to be shopping while hungry, including in the mall area itself, and on Kingsway. Staff are friendly, and the public washrooms are usually in service, at least one of them at all times. The prices are what they are, thanks to the orange maniac and greedy food corporations. They don't have that Aloe Vera drink, which is regrettable, but that isn't exactly available at more than one SDM that I could find, and it isn't the one at HV. No SOF location seems to carry it, in Burnaby, anyway.
