Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.
Used drive thru, quick service, polite cashier, meal was warm, correct and very good

I finally found out what the “What” in Whataburger stands for: What is this enormous sandwich doing in my hands, and how am I supposed to eat it gracefully in public?
Had my very first Whataburger right here in Tucson, and the name low‑key felt like a challenge. You don’t just “get a burger” here, you get handed a construction project: bun, meat, toppings, and enough grease to make your steering wheel permanently seasoned.
First bite in and I understood the branding. It’s not called “PrettyGoodBurger” or “DecentBurger.” Nope, it’s “Whataburger” because your brain literally goes, “Whata… situation I’ve gotten myself into,” as everything tries to slide out the back of the bun at the same time.
The burger itself? Big enough that you start doing life math halfway through: “Do I really need dinner later? Do I really need arteries?” The fries are there too, mostly so your burger doesn’t feel lonely, and the drink cup is basically a traffic cone with a lid.
Eating this thing in Tucson just hits different, too. You walk out of the orange‑and‑white building like you’ve joined a secret society of people who have made poor but delicious choices. My first time at Whataburger in Tucson definitely lived up to the name: I walked in curious and waddled out thinking, “Yeah… WHAT a burger.”

The little lady at the register seemed like she didn't know exactly what she was doing yet. Maybe new. I left the place fairly easily and bit into my burger and realized this is not my burger. I look at the receipt and sure enough I didn't get a double green chili. I got a Monterey Jack melt. But I am so very thankful because that was an amazing burger. The Monterey Jack melt. It may actually even be my new favorite so we had a fortunate accident today

This location is usually slow, which is alright cuz im a patient person. I ordered for pickup thru the app, I waited until my "pick up time" and headed inside to inform them I was there. After 17 minutes and 4 other pick ups coming and going, I was now annoyed. So again I say something. The worker then goes to get my food which has apparently been done and was just sitting on the warmer. After getting home and sitting down to eat, my burger was completely wrong😒😡😭 so disappointed. I guess I have to drive 20 minutes to get whataburger next time inside of 5 minutes.
