  I ordered takeout from Taj Mahal the other day. It’s been my go-to Indian restaurant for years, which is why I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1. Unfortunately, this experience has made me reconsider ever going back. My girlfriend and I ordered several items, and the first container we opened had multiple hairs inside the packaging. We tried to look past it and continued eating, but when she bit into the food we discovered additional hairs that had actually been fried into the dish. The heat had turned the black hairs grayish-white, which made it clear they had been cooked into the food. At that point we were completely grossed out and couldn’t continue eating. We lost all confidence in the cleanliness of the kitchen and had to throw the entire meal away. I understand that mistakes can happen, but what was most frustrating was the restaurant refusing to take accountability or refund the meal. For a restaurant at Taj Mahal’s price point, I expected much better customer service and food quality. Because of both the experience and how it was handled, I don’t believe I’ll be returning. There are many other Indian restaurants in Scottsdale that I’m confident will provide better quality and cleanliness.

  Real review, not paid or incentived in any way. Taj Mahal in Scottsdale delivered an exceptional dining experience. The food was outstanding, the ambience struck the perfect balance between welcoming and sophisticated, and the service blended genuine warmth with the professionalism of a seasoned, upscale team. My wife and I visited on February 21st hoping for great Indian cuisine, and every dish exceeded our expectations. We ordered the Lamb Samosas, Paneer Masala, Chicken Vindaloo, garlic naan, and rice. Each plate was flavorful, beautifully prepared, and Gill’s guidance on spice level was spot‑on. I haven’t felt compelled to write a review in quite some time, but this meal has stayed with me—and we’re already looking forward to our next visit.

The paneer tikka masala was velvety and bold, the vegetable biryani aromatic and perfectly balanced, and the naan arrived warm and impossibly soft, ready to pull you deeper into the experience. The service moved like it was in on the secret — attentive without hovering, warm without rehearsed smiles. And the atmosphere? Dim lighting, subtle music, and that constant aroma of toasted spices created a setting that felt cinematic. It’s not just dinner. It’s an experience that builds, peaks, and leaves you wanting an encore. Five stars. No hesitation.

  Absolutely incredible experience! The food was full of authentic flavor and perfectly spiced. It was easily some of the best Indian cuisine I’ve had. Every dish tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared, and the naan was warm, soft, and addictive. The butter chicken and tikka masala were especially outstanding. The service was just as impressive. Gill was amazing! They were friendly, attentive, and happy to make recommendations. The atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable, making it a great spot for both a casual dinner and a special night out. If you’re looking for delicious, high-quality Indian food with amazing service, this place is a must-try. I’ll definitely be coming back!

  Taj Mahal in Scottsdale offers a fantastic dining experience, particularly if you value a high-quality ambiance (9/10) and attentive customer service (8/10). The atmosphere is wonderful, making it a great spot for a night out. I was thoroughly impressed by their Long Island Ice Tea, which was a perfect 10/10, and the Pakora (9/10) served as an excellent starter. The Paneer Butter Masala (8/10) was rich and flavorful, especially when paired with their fresh Naan (8/10). While the meal was largely a success, the Chai was unfortunately a disappointment, scoring only a 3/10. Overall, it is a very solid but expensive choice for North Indian cuisine. The owner made the best attempt to provide great service but servers gave conflicting information about refills and quantity, especially when it’s explicitly written on the menu.
