After being disappointed in Tucson, I hoped the Phoenix location would be better. It wasn’t. The dining area didn’t feel clean, and the restrooms were in rough shape. When basic upkeep is lacking, it doesn’t give you much confidence in the kitchen. The burger was greasy and barely held together. It started falling apart before I could even bite into it. The fries were nothing special, and once again, my order was incorrect. It seems like every visit involves checking the bag and going back to the counter. Compared to that, In-N-Out is simply better — better food quality, better consistency, and cleaner locations. I also appreciate that they openly incorporate Christian values into their brand, which adds to the sense that the company is intentional about how it operates. Between the food and the overall experience, Whataburger just doesn’t measure up.
