- DDDr Craig Lumpy Lemke DMus1 day ago5.0This review is specific to the service deli, located inside the Safeway store. More specifically, it's a review of the fried chicken at the deli. I pick up chicken tenders once a week. I actually prefer the tenders from Kroger/Fry's as the breading is lighter. But Kroger/Fry's is hit and miss. They'll have chicken for a week or two, then they'll stop making it for a few weeks. This Safeway seems never to suffer that "we're out" situation. Every time I've gone there, they've had a fresh batch in the warming trays. The tenders are HUGE. More like an entire boneless, skinless breast. They have the heaviest breading of all the store options (Kroger/Fry's, WalMart, Safeway/Albertson's). Service has always been very good. They get a little swamped at lunch and dinner time, like all service deli counters. But the staff is always friendly. And most importantly, to me at least, they always have chicken! Thanks Safeway line staff and prep people. You keep me well fed every Wednesday at noon..:-)
