An employee asked, “What can I help you with?” I replied that I was just hoping to get some water, but before I could finish, I was snapped at with, “Well, can’t you see we’re closed?” He shook his head as I turned to leave. I completely understand being closed—that’s not the issue. The issue is how customers are spoken to. A simple, polite response like, “Hello sir, unfortunately we’re not open yet, but we’ll be happy to take care of you when we do,” would’ve made all the difference. Hopefully, management sees this as constructive feedback to improve communication and professionalism.
