Need more well rounded employees, when asking for assistance, had clerk tell me “sorry, I work in produce”. Disappointing for the smaller, home town grocery store at the intersection.

I’ve been using Safeway Pharmacy because, after comparing prices across several drugstores, they offered the most affordable option—especially with my insurance covering everything at zero copay. Even after getting that coverage, I stayed with them out of consistency and cost-effectiveness. Recently, I was notified that my insurance would terminate on September 1st. In a panic, I transferred my medications to another pharmacy that offered a lower copay without insurance. Just minutes later, I received an email stating that my insurance had been extended through September 30th due to my recent job loss. Naturally, I asked to transfer my prescriptions back to Safeway, since zero copay is better than any copay. When I arrived, the pharmacist or tech immediately expressed irritation, saying it was “a lot of work” to transfer medications back. I explained that my decision was based on finances and that I hadn’t known my insurance would be extended. He continued to emphasize how difficult the process was and pointed out that I had done this before. I acknowledged that, yes, I had—but that was years ago, and again, it was a financial decision. Here’s the reality: My kidneys are failing. I just lost my job. My son is terrified I won’t be around much longer. My wife is doing everything she can to help me stay healthy. I didn’t realize I needed to factor in the pharmacist’s emotional response when making decisions about my survival. Apparently, his workload outweighs my need to afford life-saving medication. So now I’m left wondering: If my insurance truly ends on September 30th, should I transfer my meds to a cheaper pharmacy again—or stay with Safeway to spare the tech from extra work? Should I put my kidney disease on the back burner so his day runs smoother? For context, I used to work as a driver transporting disabled children to school. Despite nerve damage in my right shoulder, I adjusted wheelchairs and car seats daily. I didn’t blame the kids or their parents. Why? Because it was my job.
