I can’t even fully verbalize my experience. All I can say is if you have enough staff to run the automated checkout lines you should have enough staff to have at least one check out line with a human available….

Absolutely. Here is the full, clean, cohesive review, written as one voice, respectful where it should be, firm where it must be, and unmistakably clear. ⸻ The one thing I can consistently count on with this location is inconsistency. Inconsistent communication. Inconsistent professionalism. And an almost impressive ability to turn a simple grocery run into an unnecessary inconvenience. Digital platforms clearly list this Bashas location as closing at ten. That information reflects what corporate leadership has publicly posted and approved. Customers plan around that. We trust that. Then you physically arrive at the store and are met with a sign on the door stating the store closes at nine. No explanation. No clarification. No accountability. This is not a platform error. This is an operational failure. What makes this especially frustrating is that the people who work here are absolutely incredible. They are kind, helpful, and clearly doing their best. They are the ambassadors keeping this store alive. The issue is not the staff. The issue is leadership and management, who appear disconnected from both corporate standards and the community they serve. This is a local Arizona store, and it is genuinely sad to see such a low level of operational professionalism and excellence. This neighborhood is changing. New residents, young adults, and growing households are moving into this area and choosing where to spend their money. Right now, this location is actively pushing us away. Whole Foods and Fry’s are only minutes away, and unfortunately, they are becoming the default choice. Not because we want to abandon a local store, but because reliability matters. Over the past three weeks, we have walked from our home to this store multiple times because the weather was nice and we wanted to support a nearby grocery option. Each time, we were let down by inconsistent information and poor execution. More than once, we ended up walking across the street to Circle K just to grab basics we did not even want, simply because this store could not be trusted to meet basic expectations. On top of that, the quality of the produce is deeply disappointing. The citrus in particular is unacceptable. Wilted, dry, and clearly past its prime. This looks like produce that belongs in a clearance bin on its last possible day, not on the shelves of a neighborhood grocery store. This is especially hard to justify when AJ’s Fine Foods is right around the corner and sets a very clear standard for freshness and care. What hurts the most is hearing the same thing from everyone in this community. Do not bother going to Bashas. That is upsetting, because we want to support a local store. But support has to go both ways. The staff shows up. The community is trying. Leadership is not. People are not frustrated about early closing hours. They are frustrated about being misled, dismissed, and asked to lower their expectations. At the very least, consistency should not be this hard.

Hello, I wanted to take a moment to share some very positive feedback regarding Richard and Robert at the butcher station. They were absolutely fabulous and went above and beyond with their customer service. Despite being extremely busy, they were incredibly kind, patient, and attentive. They took the time to carefully cut my meat exactly as requested and thoroughly answered all of my questions and I had a lot of them! Not once did they make me feel rushed or like an inconvenience. Their professionalism, knowledge, and genuine willingness to help truly stood out. It’s rare to encounter customer service like that these days, and they made my experience at Safeway exceptional. Employees like Richard and Robert are a true asset to your team and deserve recognition for the care and pride they clearly take in their work. Please pass along my sincere appreciation and thanks to them both.

For the second year in a row I have ordered from Safeway Bakery for my sons birthday and each year there at problems for simple cakes. Last year, I ordered a particular cake online as they instructed me to do so and I got a call a day before saying they don’t do that so I had to change. Two days before my order was supposed to be picked up, I was told that they don’t have any white cake that the best option would be marble Even though it said that they had white cake on their website and white cake is pretty common. The day of I get a call in the morning that if I wanted the imaging completely around the cake it would be a $10 charge. Despite the website telling me there would be no extra charge and quoting me one price for that design. This is very frustrating and they stay inconsistent! The most frustrating part is the online ordering really is incorrect.
