Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.
Waited 20 mins for an ONLINE ORDER for them to tell me it was sitting in a warmer the whole time and expecting me to take the food and leave. You’re better off hungry.

Just as I expected. My favorite thing was the staff the mustard in my burger and the fries. Will definitely come back. If you like burgers you will love this place.

Better than most locations, but the food is somewhat inconsistent. It's never bad, but sometimes better than others. Service is generally pretty good as well. Can only give 3 stars for atmosphere because, well.... It's Whataburger.

I sat in the drive thru 14 minutes without moving until 2 cars behind me backed out and left. I backed out and parked. 4 minutes in line waiting before I placed and paid for my order. After waiting over 15 minutes I just walked out, would have asked for a refund but God knows how long that would take and my lunch break was over and I was late back to work

Whataburger Review — Order Mishandled, Accountability Nonexistent
I placed an order through the Whataburger app, received a confirmation and receipt, and waited for food that never arrived. When I contacted the store, I was told—incorrectly—that I had ordered through Grubhub and that there was “nothing they could do.” I reiterated that the order was placed directly through their own app and that I had documentation to prove it. The manager’s response was indifference, followed by hanging up the phone.
This experience perfectly illustrates why certain operational stereotypes persist in fast food. When systems fail, there is no ownership. When customers provide proof, it is ignored. When leadership is needed, it is absent.
The issue is not a missed order; mistakes happen. The issue is a complete lack of problem-solving, accountability, and basic customer service. If an organization cannot empower its staff to resolve a straightforward order discrepancy—even when evidence is provided—it signals a deeper failure in training, management, and standards.
Moments like this are why the fast-food industry struggles to command higher wages or greater respect. Compensation is tied to value creation, reliability, and service quality. When those fundamentals collapse, so does the argument for increased pay or professional recognition.
I did not receive my order. I did not receive assistance. I did not receive respect as a customer. What I did receive was a clear demonstration of why operational discipline matters—and why its absence erodes trust in a brand.
