I’ve been a loyal Safeway customer for years, which is why I chose to use their floral department for an arrangement I urgently needed for a funeral. Instead, I was met with unexpected rudeness and disrespect from the floral manager, Carmen. Her tone, attitude, and complete lack of empathy were not only unprofessional but genuinely hurtful. She was dismissive during a time when I was already under significant emotional stress. During a moment when I was grieving and trying to handle a sensitive task, her behavior made an already painful situation significantly worse. Trying to arrange flowers for a funeral is hard enough, and the way she spoke to me and treated me was the last thing I needed. I left feeling shaken, disrespected, and deeply disappointed. No customer—especially someone dealing with something so sensitive—should ever be treated this way by a manager. I’ve trusted Safeway for years, but this experience has made me question whether the customer service standards I believed the company stood for are still being upheld. No customer should ever have such an experience, and certainly not during a moment of grief. I truly hope steps are taken to ensure that others are treated with the professionalism and compassion that were lacking in my experience.

I overheard her speaking to the customer before me, complaining about her previous customer she was ringing up. When it was my turn , no greeting or friendliness at all. The gentleman that was bagging my purchases was extremely nice and kind which made up for Kylie’s rudeness. As he was putting the vaccination flyer into my bag, My cashier thought to share her views about vaccines with him, stating it’s all government controlled and she’s against it. This is so unprofessional and disloyal to the company she works for. She has no idea if I receive my meds and vaccines from your pharmacy. Her job is to share the flyer with her customers, regardless of her views, political or otherwise. Respectfully, A Safeway Customer
