This was our first time eating at SONIC. We parked at a place where we order and our food is delivered to our car. The intercom cut in and out and staff was very terse
I was read back the order and told the amount to pay. There was an unmarked slot so I inserted my debit card. There was no instructions on the screen and I wasn't sure I'd done it correctly. So I hit the button to speak with staff. After a few minutes a young man answered and said "oh yeah you were supposed to slide your card. I said I'd already done that. He answered with "gimme a sec" but never got back to me. So I called again. A female answered and said "oh yeah your card went through ". In the meantime several cars drove up got their orders and left. I waited in total 20 minutes and finally went to the door only to find out only staff was allowed in. To her credit the manager came out immediately and apologized profusely. Then the order finally came out and was delivered by the manager who reiterated the order to me as she food down. OOPS! The order was incorrect. My family owns restaurants in Montana. If this had happened in one of our restaurants the customer would be granted a free meal and there would have been some job openings. We had seen the commercials and were excited to try SONIC. SO disappointing.
We will never eat at sonic chain again no matter where we are. In addition we will spread the word..

The one I go to is always polite and quiet. They don’t take Apple Pay but other than that it’s cool.
