The Barro’s Pizza recipe comes from Grandma Angelina Barro who came from Italy in the 1930’s, providing a pizza unlike any other. People may disagree on whether it's the thick crust with its light, flakey texture, which almost melts in your mouth, or the wonderful spiced sauce that is the secret of this great tasting pizza. Barro’s Pizza also provides wings, salads, sandwiches, pastas, gluten-free pizza options, dessert, beer and wine.
Customers frequently reported poor service, including long wait times, rude staff, and lack of attention to online orders.
Food Quality
While many customers praised the pizza and wings, there were complaints about food being cold, overcooked, or not meeting expectations.
Cleanliness
Several reviews mentioned unsanitary conditions in the dining area, with dirty tables and trash left by previous customers.
Management Concerns
Feedback indicated systemic issues with management and staffing, leading to customer dissatisfaction and employee burnout.
Positive Experiences
Despite the negatives, many customers enjoyed the food and appreciated friendly staff, highlighting the restaurant as a family favorite.

Service was exceptional per usual, and their lunch menu is great. 7.50 for a slice of pizza, a salad, and a drink?? It's an easy choice to make. Clean dining room.

Ordered pizza at 4:25, and at 6:30 they told be it would be another 30 minutes. I waited in the place for almost 2 hours and anytime I asked it was met with frustration and zero concern. I finally had.to just get a redu d and get food somewhere lese.

I placed an online order from the Barro’s Pizza at Gilbert & Brown at 6:12 p.m. and the email confirmation said it would be ready in about 35 minutes. Upon arrival, I waited under the “Online & Pickup Orders” sign for roughly 15 minutes while the employee at the counter, who was clearly busy, continued assisting others. She wasn’t rude—she was simply overwhelmed. Another customer eventually interrupted her, and only then was I able to check in.
From where I waited, I could see the staging area for online orders. My pizzas sat there for about 15 minutes before my salad was added to the top of the box. By the time everything was finally ready, it had been over an hour since I’d ordered.
To be clear, I don’t fault the employees. They were working extremely hard in what appeared to be an impossible situation. The issue is systemic: the online ordering system clearly doesn’t account for real-time conditions—the number of orders, the available staff, or the weekend rush. The result is frustration for customers and burnout for employees.
This is not a staffing failure; it’s an ownership and management failure. The employees are doing their best while the system sets them up to disappoint. I left politely, said thank you, and didn’t complain in person. But as someone who leaves many positive reviews, it takes a lot for me to write a negative one. This location needs better oversight and investment in systems that respect both the staff’s effort and the customers’ time.
UPDATE: I emailed them as invited here on Google reviews and this was their response, “Hi Spencer, We sincerely apologize for your disappointing experience. We take customer feedback very seriously, and we’re making sure that our management team is aware of this situation so that it can be addressed appropriately moving forward. Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback with us so that we can continue improving the Barro's experience.” So… platitudes.
