We visited BRIO Italian Grille in Gilbert, Arizona for my birthday lunch and were the first guests seated when the restaurant opened. Unfortunately, despite the slow start to service volume, our experience was disappointing. We ordered an appetizer, which came out within a reasonable time and was the only positive part of our visit. However, the issue began with our main course. We ordered Chicken Limone, a fairly simple dish with nothing particularly complex or time-consuming in its preparation. To our surprise, it took approximately 45 minutes for the entrée to be served. What made this even more frustrating was the fact that the restaurant was still very quiet at the time. Being the first table seated, we expected a much smoother and more efficient service, especially during lunch hours when time matters. There was no proactive communication or explanation for the delay, and we had to wait without any updates, which added to the disappointment. Overall, the experience did not meet expectations, especially considering BRIO’s reputation and the simplicity of the order. We were really hoping for a better service, but the long wait time and lack of urgency or communication made this visit underwhelming. Unfortunately, it left us questioning whether we would return for another lunch service.

currently still at the restaurant and it was THAT bad that i had to say this. idk if they served us literally 15 minutes for anyone to even get to us and it could be because me and my friends are teens (literally 18) mind u this place isn’t even busy. then once we got our server, so sweet but i just don’t know why we didn’t get served for so long. once she took our orders, it took like an hour to get our food. and the food.. omg.. it sucked. genuinely eating watered down fettuccine. the lasagna??? just cream. we only ate the bread because we saved our stomach (bread was lowkey mid) butter was COLD and hard to put onto the bread. back to the food though, why was everything lukewarm? anyways im done. come here if you want mid food. UPDATE- customer service gave us over 50% on our tab and we’re so kind very grateful

Terrible experience. We arrived around 8:30 on a Saturday night. 2/3rds of the restaurant was already closed. Chairs turned up on tables. At 9:25 a guy was running the vacuum. And the restaurant closes at 11:00? In my opinion this should be done after the restaurant closes. We ordered the pepperoni, sausage & ricotta flatbread. It was very good. I ordered the lobster bisque. No soup of the day which was disappointing. The lobster bisque looked like a bowl of melted Velveeta. It had the same texture too. I sent it back. I also had the wedge salad which was delicious thank goodness. My boyfriend ordered the lasagna. It looked promising but he said it was soupy, lacked flavor and had very little to no meat in the sauce. He barely ate any of it. Our table was near the hostess stand. Around 9:00 a party of 11 came in & asked to see a menu. Now mind you the restaurant closes at 11:00. The bartender/host asked the waiter if he wanted them to be seated. And the waiter said NO! Seriously? Turning away a party of 11? In this economy? Shocking. This is our 2nd time here. First time was just as terrible. We. Will. Not. Be. Back.

I don’t like giving one-star reviews, but because of the money I spent, I cant think of anything more I wanted to do this. I honestly can't find a single positive experience. This will be long, but here goes. I took my grandkids to the mall, and they wanted a nice sit-down area, versus fast food. My granddaughter has Celiac's, so we walked to various areas, and the menu shows multiple GF options. When we walked in, there was nobody up front, except for 2 couples, one of which had left, and the others were waiting on a pickup order. It took 6 minutes for a kid to come up front and then eventually seat us. We were the only people in there, which should have been my red flag. I knew this place was pricy, but that's good, since the kids never get a good experience like that often. But, when a small steak costs $55, I mean come on, it's Italian food, not a professional steakhouse. Anyway, we ordered a kids menu option, a GF pasta with red meat sauce, and I got the grilled asparagus and Shrimp Alfredo. First, the server was not friendly at all. She obviously didn't want to be there, and even my grandkids wanted to leave and said she was "not happy". It was like this throughout the whole service, so I tried to make a joke, but she apparently was having a bad day. For food, it SUCKED. The food sat in the pass for 22 minutes (only three tables were inside at this time). My pasta was not even lukewarm, the shrimp were warm, so I'm guessing they tossed those on top of the pasta, which I'm guessing is premade in bulk. The GF pasta was hard and my granddaughter had to spit out 4 pieces because they were crunchy. They were lukewarm too. My grandson got chicken fingers and said they didn't taste right. Those were warm, but hot grease will do that to you. They were a good size, but he only ate one. The only redeeming food item was the asparagus. It was fresh, grilled nicely, and was actually pretty warm. Next came the drinks. My grandkids for Sprite and Shirley Temples, but immediately, they said they didn't taste right. Yep, they were flat (no carbonation), and the syrup was running low. No bubbles at all. The server seemed to be upset that we asked for new drinks (although she mentioned she would charge for them). She did offer to make a Strawberry Lemonade, which they loved. However, she got a Sprite at the bar, and it too was super flat with no bubbles, so not sure if they had bad boxes of syrup or needed to change the bottles in the system. I got an iced tea, which was fine, but I mean.. it's Iced tea. We left my full plate of pasta on the table, half my granddaughter's plate, and we only took one chicken finger home, which got tossed, because it was too lard to eat later that night. We spent $92 on this food. I don’t mind paying that, but man, this is one place I will never come back to, here or anywhere under the Brio name. I talked to some of my friends, who had shared a similar experience, so either the Sunday crew is a total bust, or maybe we were destined for bad food, service, and a really bad experience. The saving grace was stopping at Popeyes on the way home to get warm, good food. The really sad part of this whole experience was that my own grandkids apologized over and over to me because of the money I spent on a lunch that never truly happened. Maybe it was this location, maybe an off day, but there is no way I can begin to recommend this place. No redeeming qualities, outside of a Strawberry Lemonade and grilled asparagus.

6 of us had a reservation at 5pm on Christmas day. We were seated at 5.30. Fine. Our waitress was Shelley. We ordered our drinks first. Shelley brought them to the table but the order was incorrect. So my husband told her, she slammed the tray down and walked away. She brought 2 glasses of wine which were the same. Our friend that ordered a Pinot still got the wrong wine. My friend drank it and never said anything further. Shelley just had such a bad attitude, we were afraid to approach her. We had to ask for bread. She only brought us butter and not oil and vinegar like the other tables surrounding us. We had to ask for water, never getting refills. We went on and ordered wedge salads and lobster bisque. Which both were good. For entrees, I had spaghetti bol, no sauce, I had to ask for more. Every entree was served cold. The hottest thing served was the bread. My friend had spaghetti pomodoro. Underneath her pasta was half inch water and it also had no sauce. She didnt even eat it. She also had to ask for more sauce. Not once during our meal did our waitress ask if the meal was ok. No approach from Shelley whatsoever throughout the whole meal. Our other friend, had the center cut fillet which was tough, and it was just like a chunk of pot roast sitting on his plate. Dry burnt on the outside. Horrible. Plate was bone dry no au jus nothing. When he ordered, he changed to mashed pots instead of fingerling potatoes. Totally dry plate. My other friend, she ordered the gorgonzola crusted beef medallions. She couldn't chew them at all. Again plate dry as a bone. Meat burnt, rare inside. My husband had the most expensive pasta dish, lobster & shrimp fettuccine. Pasta dry, again not enough sauce and 2 shrimp 2 pieces of lobster. Terrible. We had no waitress to talk to. ALL ENTREES WERE COLD and put on the table with no care. Shelley actually stood there waiting for us to hand her our plates when she cleaned up the table afterwards. On leaving we asked if could speak to the manager and the guy on the front desk came back and he said the manager would be out 'in a bit'. We left, that's why Im putting out this review. Food was disgusting, service was worse. Shelley should have a long talk with herself and find out if she should be doing a waitressing type job. We got no smiles from her, she ruined our Christmas dinner. I hope Brio read my comments and talk to the chef and our so called waitress. Bad experience for us all. Would NEVER go back or recommend.
