I’ve been using the Safeway grocery curbside pickup for months now, and it truly feels like a cheat code for busy days. The pickup team is always quick, efficient, and friendly. My order is ready on time every single visit, and they consistently get everything right. It’s made my weekly shopping so much easier. Huge thank you to the whole curbside crew...they’re the best!

I went to Safeway this morning to get some bread. There were only two loaves of 9 grain out on the display, which were already two days old. I asked a young lady named Lauren who was working on some cakes, if there were any loaves that were fresh. She disappeared into the back for a few minutes, and reappeared with a fresh one. She then sliced and wrapped it. She could have said "No...we don't have any more yet, or that's all we have", which is quite often what happens these days. So, young Lauren, I appreciate you taking the time to keep a customer happy.

After standing in the self checkout line, I finally got to checkout. I needed help with those damned digital coupons. The person assigned to self checkouts told me she was too busy to help me. I would have to go to customer service. There was no one at customer service, so I had to wait again! She helped me load the digital coupons, but couldn't ring me up because I had bananas and she didn't have a scale. I had to go back to self checkouts. The lady that refused to help me to begin with told me I would have to go around and get in line again! At that point, I decided it wasn't worth the hassle and left my cart and went to another store!

Wednesday 10.2025 I went to your Safeway store on Alma School in Chandler, as I was going in the door a woman was going out the door with a shopping cart loaded with groceries that were not bagged, I went to tell your manager, an older grey haired woman, was only met with rudeness, I left the store without my groceries and plan to go to another grocery store, not Safeway. I am a paying customer so it looks like you don’t care about your customers.

I live right around the corner and have tried to give this store so many chances, but it's gotten to the point where it's just hostile. The staff here treat people of color and queer customers differently - plain and simple. If you're either and don't read the rest of this review -- to sum it up, give your business elsewhere. Most of the employees are rude, short, or act like customers are inconveniencing them. There are a couple decent people who actually seem to care -- Hannah is the only name I remember right now. She's always friendly, smiling, and professional, and among the handful of staff who actually make the store tolerable at times. She's the one bright spot in this entire store and a role model for how the rest of the staff (especially Linda) should behave. Linda has been the source of multiple problems, but what happened today was beyond unacceptable. My boyfriend and I went in to grab a bottle of wine -- both showed our IDs (as we've done countless times before, even with Linda), and we paid with our joint card. After the transaction went through and the receipt printed, Linda suddenly tried to snatch the wine away and started yelling at us in front of other customers because he had tapped to pay instead of me. The card is joint, both our names are on it, and we both showed valid IDs -- there was absolutely no issue except the one she decided to make up on the spot. She made a total scene, trying to stop us from leaving like we'd done something wrong. It was humiliating, and everyone around was staring. I've never experienced anything so unnecessary and blatantly discriminatory in a grocery store. If Linda wants to take her job so seriously, maybe she should move to produce and deal with the moldy fruit and rotten vegetables that sit on the shelves here instead of harassing paying customers. It's gross. I've seen moldy strawberries, carrots, and brown lettuce more than once, and judging by other reviews, I'm not the only one. This store is a joke - rude employees, disgusting produce, and management that clearly doesn't care about basic professionalism. Safeway corporate should be embarrassed to have their name on this location. If you want a normal shopping experience where you're treated like a human being, go to Aldi down the street instead. The staff there are friendly, the food is fresh, and they don't make a public spectacle out of customers who've done nothing wrong.
