Family owned …. Owners been a “ cave creeker “ for 30 years …. Food and drinks are to die for … ask for Brett at the bar … thank you for all you do for the town of Cave Creek
We tried Loco J's out shortly after they opened and I vaguely remember it was hit and miss and we wanted to let them settle in a bit before we tried again. Fast forward to last week. We stopped in for dinner and happened to catch Taco Tuesday. I had one of each of the 4 meat taco options: beef, chicken, al pastor and carnitas. The carnitas was dry, the beef was greasy, the al pastor was ok but nothing special and the chicken was my favorite of the lot. It had the most flavor but it the chicken itself was a bit dry.
We also ordered the "Favorito Trio" which consisted of queso, beans and guac. The beans were pretty good, the queso was probably canned with too much salt added after, the guac was absolutely store bought and gross. It had the fake overly-limed preservative flavor that the prepacked types always have. They even added pomegranate seeds to the guac to try to disguise that fact but it was inedible. I find that Guac is often the best way to see what is happening backstage at a Mexican restaurant. We will be sticking to the other, fresher Mexican restaurants in the area.
Nice place, good food, great cold beer & awesome tequila choices. Everyone was nice too. Tacos were good, not a fan of corn tortillas though.

Third time is suppose to be the charm. Will not be a fourth. Usually, out of numerous items one item will be ok. Could not eat any of the food. Paid the overpriced check, got up and left.
I did call a few days after, talked to the new manager. He has offered a gift certificate if
My husband and I give them another chance. Just can’t stomach trying again yet.
