I have visited Kirpa several times before and while I have not enjoyed their non-vegetarian fare, they were really good with their North Indian vegetarian food. Alas, it takes just one poor experience to knock such establishments off the list.
Yesterday, I went there with my family (including a small child) and as we were sitting down, the owner came and said that he had a big backlog of orders and no servers in the restaurant. He refused to serve us and said sorry.
We went out and got dinner elsewhere. Kirpa is a family run establishment but if they cannot keep servers, are perennially short staffed, I think it’s then time for them to reflect on how they operate.
Interestingly, there was a large group of diners at another table. I don’t want to speculate on whether the owner just didn’t want to serve us because we didn’t fit a certain clientele profile.
It’s a pity. When I think of Punjab, I think of hospitality. I think of service and feeding the community. Langars in Gurudwaras are the perfect example of how this community has served millions with humility and respect.
It’s evident to me that Kirpa has strayed far from its roots. It’s not just about food. I wish them the best as they continue to operate.
But I certainly won’t consider them representative of our culture and hospitality.

If I could I would give a minus 5 star rating. The staff is so rude it's unbelievable. We did nothing. Just walked in to order something, they hated us the minute we walked and for reasons I can't even comprehend. The whole restaurant was empty. There were 2 girls on one table and nobody else. We waited 10min for someone to come to our table and he said only rice items are available on the menu and nothing else. IT WAS 7PM. It's ridiculous, don't ever go to this place if you really want to enjoy your food. And looking at many others reviews here that echo what I just said. It's just not worth it.

We got chicken tandoori and butter chicken to go. It was one of the most delicious meals we have ever had. The chef wanted to make sure we knew he made the chicken tandoori differently, bone out and sautéed with the onions, and WOW! It was so yummy. Sadly we don’t live nearby, because we would come back anytime.
